Every year, the Guardians had a meeting, to catch up, and find out how the others were doing.

This year it was going to be slightly different.

For one thing it was Jack's first annual meeting.

And for another, it was to be at the warren instead of the North pole. Though that was simply out of convenience. Tooth, Sandy and Bunny all found it much to cold in the arctic. They would have met at the Tooth palace, but Bunny hated it there because he could hear the buzzing of each individual fairy.

So Jack, Tooth, Sandy and North were all sitting in Bunny's living room, waiting for him to show up. Apparently some eggs had fallen into a paint stream, creating a dam, and a lot of mess.

Jack was bored out of his mind. Not only had he been dragged from his fun to endure a boring meeting, but he was sitting waiting for it to start with nothing to do!

His eyes swept the room again, looking for some sort of amusement. Then he noticed a fat blue book, lying behind the sofa.

Jack got up, and picked up the book.

Sand made a question mark symbol appear above his head.

Jack opened it and looked at the front page. Then he grinned, it was Bunny's diary!

"Look what I've found!" Jack said happily.

"Jack, put that down, it's not yours," Tooth said.

"But it's his Diary! I wonder what he's written in it..." Jack mumbled.

"Even more reason to put it down!" Tooth exclaimed.

"Bunny should not have left it zer," said North, " anyone could read it,"

Jack had already started to read the first page. Sandy looked at him crossly.

"North's right, he shouldn't have left it lying around," Jack said.

"When does it start?" asked North, curiously.

Tooth glared at North;

"It's none of our business, Jack put that down right now!"

"Come on Tooth, you're the guardian of memories, you probably know what's in here anyway," Jack whined.

Tooth blushed slightly,

"I could guess, but I don't actually have Bunny's memories since he was never a human, he was always a Pooka, I suppose it would be interesting to know..."

"I am sure Bunny could forgive us for reading a few pages," ventured North.

Sandy shook his head exasperatedly as Jack started to read out loud.

My birthday

Hi diary! I just got you for my birthday!

Jack snickered at the introduction,

"How old was he when he wrote this?"

"Zust read it," said North.

My name is Edmund Aster Bunnymund, and I am nine years old.

I am a blue Pooka, and one day I'll be a the leader of my tribe, just like my dad is now.

Today was my birthday, and I got you as a present from my big sister Mabel, who is 3 years older than me. She is a purple Pooka, and very kind. She said that now that I'm growing up I might need somewhere to write down my feelings.

As if I wasn't growing before.

I love her very much, but she sais some weird stuff sometimes. Though I suppose she has to if she wants to be a sage someday. That's why I am going to be chief, not her. Mabel has devoted her life to becoming a sage, which is like the cross between a healer and a librarian.

I asked her what I should write on this page, and she suggested that I should record what happened today.

Well, here goes.

When I woke up this morning I was super exited because it's my birthday.

I immediately got up, and ran downstairs. Unfortunately I woke up my mum. She is a pink Pooka, and her name is Rose. She has quite a quick temper, so she told me to go right back to bed, which I pretended to do.

What I actually did was sneak into Akanni and Mabel's room.

Akanni is my younger brother. He is also blue, though much paler than me. He can be annoying sometimes, though I love him anyway. He often relies on me to help him out of sticky situations. Though seriously sometimes he deserves to be in them. There are only so many times you can get away with the same prank.

Really I should be the one sharing a room with Mabel, being the second oldest, but Akanni is too scared to sleep in my room. The window looks out on the forest, which he thinks is haunted.

Even after assuring him that I would protect him from anything that came out of the woods, he still wouldn't sleep in that room. He's only 6 after all.

Not that I mind my room. It's cosy, and I love the tree root that runs through the ceiling.

Anyway, I went into Mabel and Akanni's room, and woke them up.

"Happy Birthday," Mabel yawned tiredly.

Akanni just turned over.

"Five more minutes," he mumbled.

Mabel pretended to cough, and said:

"It's is birthday you idiot! "

Immediately Akanni jumped up and and shouted,

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

Unfortunately that woke up my dad aswell, who came in and told us to go to bed.

Several hours later I was greedily scoffing my breakfast waffles, looking forward to opening my presents.

Mabel gave me a look that plainly said, You'll regret eating so fast later.I definitely think she'll make a good sage some day. She gives so much sound advice. Though I did ignore her.

Then of course, it was present time.

The first present I got was from my parents. Boomerangs!

"I think you are old enough to star learning to fight," my dad said smiling.

I whooped for joy.

I have been wanting to learn to fight since I first saw my dad instruct a marshal arts class.

And get my own weapons.

I understand why my dad decided to give me boomerangs. They had no blades so it didn't really matter if Akanni touched them (he knows better than to "borrow" my things anyway), and they were easy to learn.

They could also inflict a lot of damage on the enemy if used correctly.

My next present was this diary, from Mabel.

And finally I got a skateboard from Akanni (though I expect Mabel helped him choose it).

"I didn't know Bunny could skateboard, that's so awesome!" exclaimed Jack.

"Does it actually say he learned to use it?" asked Tooth, "He might have just, you know, said thank you and then forgotten about it,"

Sandy tapped Jack on the leg to get his attention. He then pointed at the door, worriedly.

That's when Jack realised that Bunny was coming back!

He quickly stuffed the diary up his shirt.

"Jack, what are you doing?" Tooth hissed.

"Let's meet at North's place later to continue reading," Jack whispered back.

Sandy crossed his arms and glared at Jack.

"You don't have to come," Jack muttered.

Just then Bunny came in.

"Sorry about that, there really was paint everywhere,"
