Injustice Story
12/7/14
The warm, dust-filled wind blew across the landscape of destroyed skyscrapers and torn up streets. A half-melted frame of a planet with the words "Daily Planet" strewn across the twisted metal lay on the ground. A single man was kneeled on the ground in what used to be a fabulous square filled with life. The man was clad in a dark blue suit with a red cape, tattered and worn, and an "S" across his chest. His sobbing filled the air with sorrow, grief and despair. In his hands, he held a woman with dark hair, her face peaceful. The man looked to sky and bellowed, sadness wrought throughout his voice. He looked once more at the beautiful face, and then whispered some almost inaudible words.
"I will find him Lois, and I will kill him."
Meanwhile...
"Come on! We need this camera set up!"
"We ready?"
"We're going live in three, two..." The man behind the news camera held up his index finger, then put it down. The reporter began speaking.
"Good morning, I'm Cat Grant. Early today, the famous Superman, protector of Metropolis, member of the Justice League and bane of Doomsday, has torn apart the city of Metropolis. No one knows why he has destroyed our beautiful city, but police and the military are commanding us to leave the city in case he continues his assault. As of now, he has paused in his assault, but if he keeps going... may God have mercy on our souls."
2 minutes later, Arkham Asylum
A maniacal laughter, the type that can only come from a mad man, rang throughout the halls of the high security prison. A man dressed in a horrible purple and orange suit with bright green hair and makeup on his face was locked in a strait jacket at the end of a wooden table in a cell threw his head back and cackled some more. A man dressed in a Kevlar bat costume slammed his fists on the table. "Dammit Joker! How did you do it? How did you make Superman destroy Metropolis? He wouldn't turn on the city willingly."
The "Joker" just shook his head and laughed even harder.
"Well if I told you, it wouldn't be a secret, would it, Batsy?" The Joker threw his head back and cackled again. The man dressed as a bat had evidently had enough, as he pulled the Joker out of the chair and threw him against the solid brick wall. The man in the bat costume was about to speak, but the wall behind him exploded, throwing him to the ground. A figure clad in a dark blue suit slowly floated through the hole in the wall. "And here he is! The man who destroyed his own city is in da house!" The Joker said foolishly. As soon as he had finished, the flying figure sped towards him faster than anyone could process, and pinned him against the wall. "Superman, no! I'm handling this!" The man in the bat attire had gotten up off the floor. He put his hand on Superman's shoulder, but Superman turned and shoved the man across the floor. "Stay back if you value your life, Batman." The Joker giggled gleefully. "Ooh, a brawl! Fight, fight, fight!" He laughed again.
That was the last straw for Superman.
He defiantly screamed, pinned Joker against the wall again. "How did you... make me... Lois..." The Joker could not stop cackling. "Oh yes, your wife. How is she doing? I hear she's been looking a bit off colour. Maybe a tad too much...shall we say...blood red?" Those were his last words. Superman shoved his unbreakable hand through Jokers chest. The clown's empty, hollow scream rang through the prison, just as his laugh used to.
