Scandalous
Do they wish to condemn me to this fate? Do they wish they were better off without the average warriors? I suppose if this mission does take my life I shall be glad I shall no longer weigh my kingdom down. I look at the guards, my already bloody sword by my side. I had to kill strangers, people with names, people with faces, people filled with love. I didn't like doing that but it's all for her. I saw her during royal parades. I thought she was beautiful. She never once looked my way, but I'm glad she didn't. I sneak up behind a guard and quickly kill him. I didn't look at his body. I didn't want to. I didn't need to. I needed to rescue Eli. Eli. I love the sound of her name. Eli. I kill another. Another. Another splatter of blood on my hands. Like red wine on silk. It's there forever. To do this hurts me. I don't understand why I have the emotions I have. I don't understand why I have to feel this way about that princess in this castle. I love her, but loving her is scandalous for a lowly knight like me. Suddenly a pain grows in my side. A guard stares at me. I see his face. I see his blade. I see my blood. I close my eyes and take his head, panting, trying not to scream. I open the door to her chamber, bleeding. She rushes to my side. The girl I love. The scandal I love. She looks at me. I don't like the look on her face. She lifts me up gently. I don't object. Why don't I object? I love her scandalous golden blonde coloured hair and I love those scandalous ice blue eyes. She's carrying me. We're outside. I'm groaning. I don't know what's real and what isn't anymore. I hear running water and a voice.
"Shush...You'll be okay.."
"Eli-chan..."
"Shush...Don't overdo it..."
She looks at my identification tag.
"Sonoda Umi. A pretty name for a pretty girl."
She takes my hand.
"I-I.." I try to speak.
"What is it, Umi-chan?"
"I-I love...you...I always...always have." I can feel tears streaming down my face. How can I show such weakness in the face of unrequited love?
I felt her lift me up one more time, I heard the sound of the water, I closed my eyes and nothing else could ever disturb me again.
