Tseng contemplates what's going to happen in the Temple of the Ancients, but his partner doesn't like it. One shot drabble.
Watching a sunset wasn't a regular occurence in Tseng's life. He wasn't really one for beautiful things, yet with his mind on the Temple of the Ancients that he was going to the next day, anything could and would faze him at the moment.
Even Elena, who was curled up quietly by his side, was contemplating the exact same thing.
What would be in store for them tomorrow?
The other question that crossed Elena's mind was... would Sephiroth be there? She wasn't sure she wanted to know.
She visibly tensed, and Tseng was momentarily distracted from staring at the sunset to look at her with worry.
His look said it all, and he put a comforting hand on the blonde's shoulder, drawing her a little closer to him to try and comfort her.
A sense of foreboding settled over the pair, the feeling of dread making Elena fear the morning.
Words didn't need to be spoken between them, as they were both Turks. Shinra's elite force. There was little need for words when you were a trained killer.
"...maybe thinking about something else would be wise?" Elena whispered, clasping Tseng's shaking hands with her own.
He looked wearily at her, knowing she was right, and nodded wistfully.
"Maybe getting some sleep would be wise too." he retorted rather quietly, salvaging a blanket from the little supplies they'd bothered to bring and wrapping it around the two of them.
She just nodded wearily, the new thought of why he hadn't brought much things filling her thoughts as she drifted off to sleep in Tseng's comforting arms.
To them, actions were worth a thousand words.
