There's a certain paralyzing fear that twinges through sixteen year-old Peter Kowalski's entire body when he hears the voice. It's the same mocking, pretentious tone that bullies him constantly, even when no one is around. It would tell him how ridiculous he was, how stupid and girly he acted. And in some cases, he would agree.
Plenty of time had passed since his new 'friend', in a sense, Jimmy had arrived at Bullworth, and it wasn't surprising that Gary never backed down.
Jimmy wasn't a bad guy, sometimes he stood up for those who needed it, and told the delinquents off. But that'd never be enough to make Gary back down.
Gary would still poke and prod at him, and at his mind as well. He dreaded the feeling of anticipation whenever he heard Gary approach, he cringed at the jokes and the uncaring demeanor that the other boy put off.
It was one day after another that cruel jokes were made to Peter, but he was always decently forgiving to his roommate.
And yet, Gary was his best friend.
