Tim retrieves his shoebox.
He lifts the lid and stares at the evidence inside. Photographs. Newspapers. DVDs. Flash Drives.
It all must go.
He feels sick, cold. He shakes all over, wants to vomit as the enormity of what he's done worms into his brain.
This is a secret he was never supposed to know. A secret so precious, so fragile, so devastating that Gotham will burn if it escapes.
Tim can't accept that. The secret must remain hidden at any cost.
He lights a match with trembling hands.
Bruce Wayne is Batman.
Dick Grayson is Robin.
The match falls.
This piece is a snippet from Tim's past. Long story short, as a child Tim stalked Batman and Robin for years. He did not get caught. He even figured out Batman's secret identity. In my head canon, he burned the evidence after he figured out Batman's identity and tried to cure himself of his Bat-obsession.
But, of course, if you already knew that, then you know why Tim revealed his existence to Batman in the first place.
"Batman needs a Robin."
Batman needs a Robin.
And that is why Tim is my favorite Robin. So glad to see him on YJ.
Oh, and I highly recommend the fanfic Shutterbye. If you want a more detailed origin story/personality analysis for Tim, go read it. Nao.
