Author's note: Prompt: Opposites Pairing: slight Keesha/Ralphie; I do not own Magic School Bus obviously.
White and black, light and dark, thin and fat: all were opposites Keesha and the rest of her friends had been taught of since they started school. Back then she didn't really think much about them. She was too busy chasing bees as she buzzed in the hive or saving a rotting log from being destroyed. They all had been like that. They were innocent, naïve children at one point. But then they grew up.
They were older and (apparently) wiser. Dorothy-Ann and Carlos were the first of the group to experience puberty in its fullest form. In other words, Carlos got over cooties and discovered something better, like kissing his best friend. Wanda went on carb burning diets and only ate food that was harvested naturally. Everyone began changing, Keesha included, but she didn't realize how important opposites were until she got a good look at herself in the mirror.
Most of her friends, even outside of her little third grade group she had stayed with, were white. They were all relatively thin with lighter hair and eye colour than her. She was the opposite of the bunch, and she wasn't sure how to feel about that.
The thing that made her worry most was if Ralphie had discovered this too. Had he realized she was his opposite in every way? Did he care? Was he supposed to? She knew he didn't mind being teased about spending all that time with her, but would he care if he realized she was nothing like him? Did that mean their friendship (and possible relationship) was doomed?
Keesha remembered an old saying about "opposites attract" that she learnt in her eighth grade English class. She'd have to tell Ralphie about it and see what he thought.
