Am I drunk or in love?
Chapter 1
Finnick Odair wasn't a very friendly person. Sure, he had friends, but they were few and he barely trusted them. The boy would rather venture alone in a mysterious new place than hanging out with others of his kind. Moving to a new town had been hard at first: the few acquaintances he had ever had the pleasure of making were left behind, including his long term girlfriend Annie, the only human Finnick did care about. Having only just finished his studies, he applied for a job as a high school teacher in a school that was 15 minutes away from the place he had rented.
His first night was spent at a bar. A disastrous beginning, but the boy needed to clear his thoughts and was sure alcohol would help him. Everdeen's was the place he chose. It was full of what he suspected were retired burglars, due to their tendency of drinking too much which led them to say out loud many things Finnick was sure he wasn't supposed to hear. The bartender was a girl, nearly his age, or maybe a little younger. Her hair was of a raven black colour, her skin of an olive tone and her eyes gray as a clouded night. She was pretty, not too skinny or too fat, but didn't really satisfy his taste.
- Anything else? – She asked, her tone of voice low and weary, but at the same time dry and rigid.
- More vodka. – Finnick requested, not bothering to look up from his third empty glass. The noise around him and the alcohol that was already pumping through his veins were giving the boy a headache, and he almost thought about putting an end to the drinking and go back home. When about to leave, a younger boy with dark brown hair and pretty common blue eyes sat beside him and put a hand on his arm.
- Don't you think you've had enough? – The stranger inquired, his voice sweet and obviously not drunk, stroking Finnick's arm with his thumb.
- I was just about to leave actually…
The younger boy rolled his eyes.
- Of course you were. I'm Peeta. – He introduced himself, giving the older guy his hand to shake.
- Odair. Finnick Odair. – He took Peeta's hand and shook it, a smile making his way to his lips, and he didn't even know why.
