Starfire was distant, at best. None of the Titans knew what was troubling her. She didn't even know.
She is running
A hundred miles an hour
in the wrong direction
She tried to be happy, but she couldn't. She felt so far away from all of her friends.
But the canyon's ever widening
In the depths of her cold heart
She decided to leave. She couldn't handle the depression, and the looks on her friends faces when they saw her like that.
So she sets out on another misadventure just to find
She's another two years older
And she's three more steps behind
She left, without telling them. The only proof that she had existed, was the closet full of clothes, and the note, with two words. 'I'm Sorry.'
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
She flew, until she reached Gotham City. She knew she would be safe there. She walked, too tired to fly.
She is yearning
For shelter and affection
That she never found at home
She pretended not to know that HE was here, and would pass the word to Robin that she was safe. She pretended to be Ok.
She is searching
For a hero to ride in
To ride in and save the day
A car pulled up, and someone climbed out. It was not who she suspected, but a masked villain that she knew too well.
He held out his hand. In that moment, all she could think about was being wanted. So she took his hand, and climbed in the car with him.
And in walks her prince charming
And he knows just what to say
Momentary lapse of reason
And she gives herself away
He took her back to Jump city with him, wrapping a blanket around her shoulders and feeding her. And in that moment, she began to trust him.
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
After he brought her back, he messaged the Titans. He had their little misguided runaway.
If judgment looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can't see past her scarlet letter
And we've never even met her
Robin was the only one who immediatly wanted to go after her. The others had lost faith that she was still the old Starfire that they loved.
If judgment looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can't see past her scarlet letter
And we've never even met her
He pursuaded them to go with him, because he couldn't do it on his own. He needed them.
If Judgement looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can't see past her scarlet letter
And we've never even met her
Never even met her
She wanted to go back, realizing her mistake, yet he would not allow it. She was his now.
Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
They came, fighting through security, and fighting to bring her back.
Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?
Does anybody even know she's going down today?
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?
He let them take her, watching her go. He wished he could leave this life, as she had. Yet, he could not.
He is running a hundred miles an hour in the wrong direction
