A/N: I wrote something new! It's the first thing I wrote since I started writing my WIP more than 2 years ago. So yay me!

I saw a gif from the last scene of episode 304 where Justin leaves after giving Brian's bracelet back. It was late and it made me sad and I had to write.

So this is a slightly different take on the end of 304.

ENJOY!

Off he went

Brian rests his body on the doorjamb once again.

There is this thick silence, words unsaid, but eyes and trembling breaths saying it all. Then Brian breaks the charm.

"Shouldn't you be getting back to your boyfriend?"

And Justin feels the sadness washing over him, inside him and settling in his stomach, where the butterflies are flooded and drowned. He looks at Brian and wills him to ask him to stay; or at least to take back the words. One second ago, he had decided to forgo his brain and take a step forward and place his hands on Brian's narrow hips, feeling the soft cotton fabric and settle and bow his forehead on Brian's chest, to position it just so Brian could kiss the back of his head and maybe the back of his neck if the brunet was ready to lean a bit more forward.

But, as always, Brian could not. He would never leap and plunge forward. He would splash around violently, battling against an invisible force, getting everyone around freezing wet. And as Justin was always the one closest, having jumped into the cold waters first, to save the man he loved, he was the coldest, the first to have his head submerged by the water and held there by the hard waves his lover unconsciously created in his fight. He was the first to drown. Always.

"This, this moment sums up perfectly why I left. I wanted to stay, you wanted me gone. And, as I was never able to resist you; off I went; off I go."

He waves a hand, slow and shy and not looking. Then he stares into his eyes and says:

"Good night, Brian."

And then, off he went.
