The stupidity of

Because it was a late post, I'll be doubling up this time :)
A thought occurred to me recently, about just how stupid some things are when you really think about it. Oh well, the best thing we can do is sit back and watch it all unfold.

With a knock on the door, Temari opened the room.

"My, aren't we looking charming?" she remarked on the man in the room's bandages.

Shikamaru smirked back. "I would say the same for you, but I don't like lying to a woman."

"Just be glad we're in a hospital crybaby, they'll tend to your face when I'm done with you," she replied with a smile.

Slowly, Shikamaru sat up to give the girl some space to sit down.

"So how are you now?"

He attempted to shrug, but winced. "A couple of broken bones and a burn from the blast, but Sakura says it's nothing permanent or serious."

"Too bad."

"Thanks."

Shikamaru stared at his broken arm. "We fight to maintain peace, huh?"

Temari laughed softly. "The truth can be a bit stupid at times."

"Completely troublesome too. It isn't just war as well. The world has idiots who think they are on top of the world, only to fall from what really is a shallow height."

"There are also morons who say life is too short, but don't do anything about it."

"The guys who desperately try to get the girl, when another one just as good admires them, but they don't even see it."

Temari laughed. "Naruto's stupid."

Shikamaru closed his eyes and smiled. "So is the fact that he didn't even look twice at Hinata for however many years 'til he got a clue."

Temari looked at him. "Don't forget the idiot who dove for his team mate to save her when she didn't need it."

"Troublesome woman," he replied. "Thanks to me you didn't lose your leg."

"You almost lost yours."

Shikamaru could feel the burn marks on his leg. Being a ninja always meant something like this would happen.

"Like you said, the stupidity of facts, right? They all lead to some sort of consequence."

She kissed him. "And there's yours."

The fan wielder got up. "I have to go, thanks to you I'm doing the paper work."

"Have fun."

When she closed the door, Shikamaru lied down and smiled contently.

"Eh, I guess sometimes the truth isn't too bad after all."

End.
