Dentist!
Howard was about five years old when he had to go to the dentist for a check-up. It was his first check-up and he was scared all children are scared when they're going to see the dentist. His daddy promised to go with him as well but he lied! He left and he never came back! He was never going to forgive him for that he tried not to be angry but he couldn't help being very sad, and mama says that's ok.
"Mama?" Why does wee ave ta go to the deentist?"
"BECAUSE WE HAVE TO SHOW OFF YOUR BEAUTIFUL TEETH SOMETIMES DON'T WE!" Howard always wondered why his mama shouted so loudly not many mamas do with children his age. But Howard decided he didn't mind he loved her and she loved him.
"But wha does the deentist do mama?"
"A DENTIST LOOK AT YOUR TEETH AND THEN GIVE YOU A LOLLYPOP AND A STICKER OR SOMETHING, IF YOU'RE A GOOD LITTLE BOY!"
"The lollypop sounds good but should a bee scared..."
"NO! DENTISTS ARE REALLY NICE DON'T WORRY!"
The dentist place was only down the road, so Howard never got to ask too many questions he just watched as his ma paid the Dentist assistant and they went to sit on some uncomfortable chairs surrounded with comics. Howard went to sit on his mama's knee not because he was scared honest he just didn't want his mama scared that's all. Mrs Woliwitzs put both her arms around her son's stomach protectively as Howard got comfortable. He made all the ladies young and old coo at him with how adorable he was, one of even let him stroke there dog.
"What's your doggy's name?" asked Howard smiling and stroking the dog, it was a black Labrador with a pink collar, and she kept sniffing his hair making him giggle. He was a bit sad to go in the dentist office he waved at the dog saying bye.
"Mama look, there's lollypops on the wallpaper and a big bunny in the corner, and a jar full of lollypops!"
"Yes sweetie, and you can have a lollypop and two stickers if you're a good boy and let me see all your white teeth"
"R you the deentist lady?"
The dentist smiled, she looked so patient and trustworthy, "Yeah and you must be Howard, can you sit on this big chair and open your mouth for me?"
"Yep!"
Howard went and climbed on the chair opening his mouth "AHHHHH!"
"What, what's wrong" the dentist lady seemed confused and concerned.
"It's what mama does when she opens her mouth!" Howard explains and smiles.
"Ha-ha ok then sweetheart, open your mouth"
The Dentist checked all his teeth, they were perfect. She gave him a strawberry flavoured lollypop and he chose a Spiderman and a superman sticker. Mrs Woliwitzs wasn't so keen on the Spiderman one though she remembers Howard trying to climb the wall once after watching the Spiderman movie he scraped all his knees and had a little bump on his head.
Maybe going to the dentist wasn't that bad
"R wee going to visit the lady deentist again mama?"
"NEXT MONTH BABY!"
"Ok I can get a Lemon flavoured lollypop next time!"
