Vermillion.
A million possibilities shine
Through the vibrance of your every move.
A hue so brilliant it's hard on the eyes.
But I don't look away.
There is something holding me captive
In the freedom of your gaze.
Scarlet.
Your fiery spirit falls
In tendrils down your body.
The weight of it sways you
Further from my sight.
As your light turns the corner,
I see you flicker.
Crimson.
I watch it dust across your face,
As passion bursts from your small frame.
Both in anger and in love,
Your colouring is the same.
I can't help but wonder
How far that dusting spreads.
Maroon.
There is a smoky sadness
About you as you grieve,
As blood spills, a waste of time.
That's the thing about fire;
The brighter the flame,
the darker the shadow.
Rust.
A sourness has come.
Dulling your shine.
Caking it in decay.
And I wonder,
How much heat
Can fire tolerate?
Auburn.
As the inferno blazes on,
You too have been fanned as a flame.
Burning brighter, casting off the darkness,
Shining like a supernova.
I want to reach out but am stopped
By the gravity of another, darker galaxy.
Wine.
I watch you drinking in life,
Too deeply.
Trying to forget, you sparkle like champagne.
But I see through your effervescence
Over the rim of my own glass.
I have always known your shades of red.
