Do you remember that time?
Will and Louisa Traynor are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. They never imagined they'd get there, but there they are...more bonded than ever.
Will woke his sleeping wife with the raspy sound of his voice. "Happy Anniversary, Mrs. Traynor!" Louisa bolted up, startled by the reminder. Her husband laughed and pulled himself over to her as much as he possibly could so she'd lean in for a kiss. She didn't let him down. She traced his face and smiled and reciprocated with a "happy anniversary, my love."
Twenty-five years had passed between them as a married couple and as a unit. Nobody could ever imagine either of them without the other. They were a matched set. Nothing had been easy for them, and yet, everything was easy and perfect for them.
Between kisses, Will squeezed out the plans he had arranged to surprise Louisa. He has set the day so that both of them had clear work schedules and could spend it entirely together. All he wanted was to be alone with his wife and enjoy being together. Their family would gather later in the evening for cocktails and desserts.
What Will had arranged was so simple and basic, but so precise and romantic for them. He had arranged a picnic by the ramparts at the castle where they had met and just wanted to lazily lie around with her talking. She couldn't think of a better way to spend the day. He'd had a caterer pack an exquisite picnic and he had selected an impeccable bottle of Dom, which hi wife had acquired an affinity for. When they arrived at their picnic spot, he also revealed that he had chartered a yacht to take them through the Mediterranean for a few days...just the two of them. Their daughter Livi was finishing UnĂ in the states. She was completing her 4 years at Brown and would begin working toward her MD at Yale Medical School.
When they arrived at their spot, they looked at each other and laughed. It still terrified Louisa how her husband would quickly and carelessly maneuver his chair over what was nearly a cliff.
Louisa spread their blanket and lowered Will's chair as far down as it would go. She organized the spread and was impressed. Although they had aged, they still looked youthful and happy. He began by telling her, "you look beautiful." She responded with her usual retort of "you don't look bad yourself!" She got on her knees and kissed him.
He began to reminisce...do you remember the time when I brought you here for the first time? She did...and reminded him about their conversation about Paris. Then she asked...do you remember the time I first began reading to you in bed? Oh...did her ever? That was when he began falling in love with her...and hard. He asked, "do you remember the time we went to Mauritius and shared our first kiss?" How could she forget?! She then asked, "do you remember the time the miracle of our love happened and we found our that Livi was on the way?" He said it was one of the happiest moments of his life and that in fact, all of his happiest moments included Louisa. This made her smile and tingle, because this meant that although she came into his life after the accident, she helped him fulfill a happy and complete life just like he had to her. All of her happiest moments included him. They spent the remainder of the afternoon with Do you remember the times and made their way home to host their family. They had a beautiful day. They have a beautiful life and appreciate it. They prepared themselves for bed and had a romantic evening of making love and of more reminiscing and of planning their trip. Here's to many more anniversaries, my love.
