Timmy was watching Poof as his godparents got some sleep. It was only a week after Poof was born and Cosmo and Wanda were exhausted. They had been sleeping all day and left Timmy in charge of the fairy baby.
"Don't worry, Poof, I won't be like Vicky," Timmy had whispered to his fairy brother after Cosmo and Wanda were out of earshot. Poof giggled.
It was around time to go to bed now, and Timmy was wishing Cosmo and Wanda would wake up. Poof was driving him crazy. If Timmy wouldn't have distracted him when he did, a dragon would have eaten them. After a long day, all Timmy wanted to do was sleep, but Poof wouldn't stop crying.
"What's wrong, Poof?" Timmy said desperately. Poof looked over to the fishbowl and it made him cry harder.
"You miss Mom and Dad, don't you?" Timmy asked. He called Cosmo and Wanda his parents when he was alone with Poof, so he wouldn't get confused. Or that's the story he would tell anyone who caught him saying that. Yes, Poof was just an excuse.
Poof nodded. Timmy wiped his brother's tears. "They should be waking up soon. Until then, you need to go to sleep," Timmy said. Poof looked like he was going to cry again.
Timmy shushed him and started rocking him. He sat on his bed facing away from the fishbowl. "Look, you're with Big Brother Timmy now. We always have fun, don't we?" Timmy asked. Poof nodded. "But you need to go to sleep now."
"P…poof poof," Poof said. Timmy held him close and rocked him.
I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow
And each road leads you where you want to go
And if you're face with the choice and you have to choose
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you
And if one door opens to another door closed
I hope you keep on walking 'til you find a window
If it's cold out side
Show the world the warmth in your smile
But more than anything…
Yeah, more that anything…
My wish
For you
Is that this life becomes
All that you want it to
Your dreams stay big
Your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to
I hope you know somebody loves you
And wants the same things, too
Yeah, this
Is my wish
Upon hearing the word "wish" Cosmo and Wanda instinctively woke up. They saw Timmy rocking Poof and singing. Cosmo was going to ask what he wanted, but Wanda stopped him. They continued to listen.
I hope you never look back
But you never forget
All the ones who love you
And the place you live
I hope you always forgive
And you never regret
And you help somebody every chance you get
Oh, you find God's grace in every mistake
And always give more than you take
But more than anything
Yeah, more than anything
My wish
For you
Is that this life becomes
All that you want it to
Your dreams stay big
Your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to
I hope you know somebody loves you
And wants the same things, too
Yeah, this
Is my wish
Oh, this is my wish
I hope you know somebody loves you…
May all your dreams come true…
Poof was now fully asleep. Timmy smiled at his little brother. He turned around to put Poof under the covers when he saw his godparents.
"Uh…Cosmo, Wanda, hi, did you have a good sleep?" Timmy asked.
The fairies nodded. "Did, you hear that?" Timmy asked. The fairies didn't say anything, but instead smiled and waved their wands over Poof. There was a yellow glow around him, but he still lay fast asleep. The glow faded. Timmy looked up at them and smiled. Cosmo and Wanda smiled back. Timmy crawled into bed. Wanda took Poof. Not a lot what said, but it was a memory in the making.
