"Haru-chan!" Hunny shouted, catching the attention of everyone surrounding him.
"Yes, Hunny-senpai?" Haruhi asked. She wondered what was on the third years mind.
"After school, come with m,e to buy cake!"
She should have known. Cake was alwayds on his mind. "Why do you need me?" Clearly, he had Usa-chan. Mori was off with Tamaki, the twins and Kyouya. Who knows what their up to.
"Usa-chan and I don't want to be lonely." Hunny hugged the cute pink pink. He loved Usa-chan so much. "Please Haru-chan."
Haruhi frowned. He was too cute to resist. What harm could there buying cake with him?
"Sure." Hunny jumped up and down with happiness. He was awfully glad she agreed.
Soon the little boy stopped bouncing and tugged on Haruhi's pants. "Do you want to know why I love cake?"
Whatever the answer she would give him, he would tell her anyway. The brunette nodded.
"Well..." Hunny begun, spinning around. "When I was ten, I went to a commoner mall." Hunny stopped, studying Haruhi's face, to see if she was listening. "There I saw the most wonderful cake in the world!" Hunny giggled and threw Usa-chan in the air. "But they said I couldn't have it." He meant his parents or whoever was with him said no.
"Why is that?"
"They said sweets were bad for me!" Hunny cried. Tears were streaming down his cheeks, wetting the bunny. Of course Usa-chan didn't mind. "On our way back to the car, a little girl bumped into me..."
Haruhi's attention slowly drifted from the story. She remembered when she was eight, she had bumped into a boy and covered him in cake. "Sorry Hunny-senpai, can you repeat that?"
Hunny eagerly nodded. He loved telling stories. "When she bumped into me, I got covered in cake. I swiped my finger across my cheek and tasted the frosting. It was amazing!" Hunny's eyes gleamed. "If it wasn't for that girl, I wouldn't have tasted cake."
The story didn't really say 'why' he loved cake. Mostly, it was about his 'first' cake. "That's nice."
"But back to why I love cake..." his little voice trailed off, and his face became serious. A rare thing to see. "I love cake because cake introduced me to me!"
Haruhi understood. Cake helped Hunny become the adorable host he is today.
"So, I thank that girl. I'm grateful that I ran into her, that faithful day!" His expression showed how thankful he really was. "Really, that girl introduced me to me. I guess you can say, that girl was my first love! And every time I eat cake, I remember her and fall in love all over again." Hunny sighed, reciting that story made him feel nice and warm inside. "I better go, Takashi is waitng! Bye Haru-chan!" At that moment, Hunny bounced his way to class.
"Your welcome, Hunny-senpai..." Haruhi muttered under her breath. "Thanks to you, my cake was destroyed."
Even though Haruhi felt bitter sweet about the cake and Hunny, something about that incident always made her smile. She knew it was. It was seeing Hunny grin widely as he tasted the frosting. It made her feel proud that she made someone smile on her birthday. Her first and only birthday without cake.
