I woke with a start on unfamiliar, wet ground, squinting my eyes at the bright sunlight. My head was pounding and I felt warm blood trickle down my face. As my eyes adjusted to the light, I discovered I was in a forest with no recollection of how I got here. Trees blocked most of the blue sky above me. The last thing I remember was someone breaking down the door of my house late last night and hitting me on the head with something. I tried to move my head and limbs but they all felt like they weighed a ton. My vision started to blur. I heard someone shout. "Dean, I've found her. I think she's alive." Footsteps came towards me and I felt someone begin to pick me up. Then my vision went black.
When I woke up again, I was lying on something comfortable, probably leather. I opened my eyes and discovered that I was in the back of a car and that I was lying on leather. The people in the front seats were talking quietly, but I could still hear them. "Should we take her to the hospital?"The one sitting in the passenger seat asked. I saw that he was taller than the driver and had brown hair that went down to his shoulders.
'Of course Sam." The driver said sarcastically. "We'd just waltz on up there and deliver the girl to them. The hospital staff wouldn't be suspicious at all."
"Well, what do you think we do then?"
"She'd probably only have a head wound and a concussion. I say we take her back to the hotel."
"Ok…"
It was silence for about a minute, then Sam, or whatever his name was, asked, "I wonder how she got there? Was it some kind of demon?"
My eyes widened. Demon?
"I don't think it was a demon." The driver replied. "A demon would just kill her outright or use her body as a vessel. And if she had information, the demon would just torture it out of her."
"I guess so. Then what was it?"
"I honestly do not know."
I saw the driver look in the rear view mirror at me so I quickly closed my eyes, but he'd already seen my eyes open.
"So you're awake then. And I guess you must have heard a bit of our conversation haven't you?
I opened my eyes and scowled at him. God, he sounded like an arsehole.
He continued. "My name's Dean and this is my brother Sam and we just saved your life."
