"Have you seen Remus?" You call to Aberforth as he runs, leading a group of students.
"He was dueling Dolohov," shouts Aberforth, your heart sinking with every word, "haven't seen him since!"
"Tonks," you barely hear Ginny say over the sound of your pounding heart, "Tonks, I'm sure he's okay –"
You don't wait for her to finish speaking before running off through the chaos, repeating his name like a mantra in your head. A student is flung into the wall just beside you, but you don't stop to help; you have to get to Remus. With every step you take, the feeling of dread sinks deeper in your stomach. A fleeting image of little Teddy flashes before your eyes and, for a moment, you regret coming. But then you shake off the feeling as paranoia.
As you run through the middle of the destruction, barely managing to dodge the curses that were flying in every direction, you search every face, knowing he has to be there somewhere.
Finally, finally, you see him and you have to stop yourself from flinging yourself into his arms. A jet of green light burst from the end of his wand, aimed at Dolohov, who just barely jumps out of the way. You run to Remus and he sees you, losing his focus for just one second. Out of the corner of your eye, you see Dolohov, a cruel smile on his twisted face. A moment before the curse hits him, you let out a scream that sounds nothing like you, high-pitched and terrible, and you grab his hand just before he falls. "Remus! No. No!"
You hear a familiar cackle and the last thing you see is the deranged face of Bellatrix Lestrange before you're falling, falling, falling back into Remus's arms. Teddy…
