Disclaimer: I definitely don't own Harry Potter. If I did, I probably wouldn't be here

Author's Note: This was written after HBP so watch out for spoilers! This is my first fic, after a long time on this site reading everyone else's work :p. It's going to be long, I can feel it, so stick around and maybe you'll like it! ;)

Prologue:

A full moon shined in the dark sky, giving it an eerie glow. Far away down the slope lights from a nearby town contrasted yellow against the white of the moon. A dark hooded figure stood at the edge of the forest examining the view; it seemed to stand immobile for hours. After some time watching it, a smaller figure approached, feeling a cold breeze tickle its neck.

"What news do you bring?" asked the taller figure in a deep baritone, still unmoving.

"There is a great change in the heavens it seems, and it will affect all." said the other, standing beside its associate and shivering in the cold.

"Do not bullshit me with the Prophet's pathetic predictions! I want to know how the preparations are coming along." The man said coldly and fixed his icy gaze on the other, who sighed and pulled down its hood to reveal long silky chestnut hair and a confident yet preoccupied expression.

"They are coming along well, yet I worry about their concealment. There seem to be either sneaks or undependable idiots in our ranks. I have called for a purge, but the Committee is hesitant. They ask too many questions and they will not obey unless some of them are answered." The messenger fixed the hooded one with flaming eyes. It was a woman who looked in her early twenties with an olive complexion and a shadowed air.

"I cannot control them anymore, you must come." She said desperately, and with that she pulled her hood back over her head and walked back into the forest.

"You know I can't come back!" He yelled at the woman's retreating back. She spun around and saw that his hood had fallen. She gasped as she beheld a face that had been hidden for years. Icy grey eyes bored into hers.

"You cannot hide forever! If you want to continue with this plan, you must let them know you exist. I can't act as the middle-man any more, they won't listen. If you don't show the Committee soon that they have a true leader, then everything will have been for nothing." Resisting the urge to run to him, she spun around determinedly and disappeared into the forest.

The man stood there for some time, continuing his contemplation. Then with a light "Pop" he Disapparated.
