Prologue

Mary-Alice Young's POV

I got up this morning in a good mood. As usual, I woke up, got dressed, and had my morning coffee. I was on my way out the door to get the paper and I saw Susan outside talking to Bree. The two of them waved at me and then went their separate ways as it started to rain. I went back into the house and looked out the window anticipating what was going to happen today.

I went to get the mail after I ate lunch. I got a bill and an odd envelope that had no address or name on it. I opened the envelope and read the letter. It said, "I know what you did, It makes me sick, I'm going to tell."

When I realized what I had to do, Lynette was unloading grocery bags from her car. She saw me and said, "Mary-Alice? Is there something wrong?"

I lied and said, "No everything is fine."

I walked back in the house and went into the closet. I grabbed the gun, pointed it at my head, and pulled the trigger.
