The Trip to Greenhouse Three
She was late. Minerva rushed down the stone steps of the castle, her books clutched tightly to her chest. She needed to get to Herbology, the grass was slick beneath her shoes and she had to slow down when she reached the hill by the green houses. The last thing she needed was grass stains on her new tights.
She slowly began her descent down the hill and finally started to relax. She was going to make it down the hill just fine. She adjusted her leather carrycase on her shoulder and took the fateful step.
It was too late to catch herself and she braced herself for the fall into the mud and soggy grass. She closed her eyes tight and tightened her grip on her belongings but, the fall never came. Instead of hitting the soggy earth she was caught by strong arms. She opened her eyes to a mess of shaggy black curls, big brown eyes and a large toothy grin. "You al'ight?" Rubeus questioned.
"Yes, yes. Thank you." She managed. "You saved me from quite a messy fall."
Hagrid chuckled and sat her down, wrapping a large arm around her slender waist. "I think we are goin to the same place. How about ya walk with me and I'll make sure ya don't fall."
She smiled gratefully, "I'd appreciate that."
He smiled back and carefully escorted her down the remainder of the hill. "There ya go, wouldn't want a pretty girl like you gettin yo'self hurt."
Minerva felt the color rise in her cheeks. "Thank you," She stood on the tips of her toes and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek. His cheeks and neck flushed and he gave a soft chuckle and a shy smile as he pulled open the door to greenhouse three.
I don't know why, I just love the idea of these two. Two of my favorite characters and Hagird doesn't get enough love. I'm normally not one for fluff but when I got this idea I had to write it. :)
I do not own Rubeus or Minerva, obviously.
