A quick oneshot featuring Jack and Snape. I'll leave it to you to image where in the time-lines it is. Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter or Torchwood.
It was a quiet day in the Hub when Jack saw him. He never thought he's see Severus Snape ever again, though if he thought about it, it was quite possible. Snape was still alive in this time-line, right? He hadn't been murdered yet.
Jack had slipped out for some coffee, unable to find lanto. Luckily, there was a small coffee shop just down the street. The hot drink wasn't quite as good as lanto's coffee, but it was enough to get by on.
Jack hadn't noticed the wizard when he first walked in. The Captain had sat at the counter and ordered his drink, before grabbing a nearby paper and skimming the headlines. Nothing looked quite interesting enough to read, so he had resorted to examining the other costumers.
A woman with red hair sat next to a muscled man in the corner, fawning over the man while he examined his hair in a napkin holder. A blond guy in a lab coat sat near them, very obviously spying on them.
Another woman sat on a bench near the window, this one with a young child who she was cuddling and making little cooing noises to.
The last costumer had walked in while Jack was examining the first couple (Who had broken out into song, oddly enough), and was a greasy man in a dark cloak, wallowing in the shadows of the coffee shop and glaring at a bright painting on the wall. Jack froze as he recognized him, surprised. It had been almost three hundred years since he had been graced with the presence of the greasy-haired man.
Snape caught the Captain staring and shot him a dirty look. Jack almost broke into giggles, it was the same look he had gotten in class when he had messed up a potion. Dear God, he was grateful he didn't attend Hogwarts anymore.
The Captain discreetly drew his wand and cast a tracking charm before going back to his memories.
As Jack was lost in nostalgia, Snape had grown quite annoyed with the young man staring at him. The Potions Master heaved himself up from the table, muttering about Muggles, and left the shop. Jack, taking one last swig of his coffee, got up and followed him.
Snape was never caught as a spy for a reason, this reason being he was very aware of his surroundings and immediately noticed the Immortal following him. He turned down a darker alley, with no one present, and drew his wand as he waited for the stalker to round the corner.
Jack sensed the man stopping through his tracking charm and, with a casual flick of his scarred hand, countered the Glamor charms cast on himself before rounding the corner. He was feeling reckless, and talking to someone he used to know might make him feel better about not finding the Doctor yet, even if it meant breaking a few rules.
Jack smiled at the Potions Master, who very nearly dropped his wand in surprise.
The man facing Snape was not the one he had been expecting.
"Hello, Professor."
"Potter?"
