Once upon a time, in a land faraway, there was a kingdom called Rillianne. It had once been a luxuriant and prosperous kingdom, ruled over by the kindest King and Queen there ever was. The two had a beautiful princess by the name of Rin, who was showered with love and spoilt to death. All was good for quite some time. One sad day, the Queen fell ill and soon became infirm. Days passed and while the Queen grew weaker and weaker, her husband the King grew more and more depressed. When her mother finally passed Rin could not truly understand why her father was so upset or why he locked himself in his room so often. Within a year of the Queen's passing, the King joined her. Rin was left in charge of an entire kingdom at the age of fourteen when she hadn't even been old enough to be fully trained.
Some of the people who inhabited Rillianne thought she was far too young to rule a country, but they were quickly silenced by the Princess' guards. Rin would have no one speak up against her; she demanded her citizens' adoration and praise. Besides that she also squeezed every penny out of their pockets, determined to have anything and everything that her heart desired be it a diamond ring or a pretty new stallion to ride. No one liked the Princess or her wicked ways, but neither was anyone willing to stand up to her and be thrown in jail. And so the citizens of Rillianne endured her cruelty for many years.
When Rin was a little older she fell in love with the charming young prince who ruled the country across the sea from Rillianne. His name was Kaito, and she decided that he would pre-eminently be hers. But when she sent a messenger stating her undying love, he came back saying the Prince had eyes only for another girl. Outraged, the Princess demanded to know who this girl was. The messenger stated that it was a simple peasant girl who lived in a village not far away. Rin would not have this, and demanded that the village be burned to the ground along with all the land around it. Fearing her wrath, the messenger obeyed.
When the citizens of her country heard about this horrible atrocity committed by their leader, the tenuous thread keeping them from acting broke. Their enmities drove them towards revolt, and Prince Kaito himself came over to lead the people in charging the castle. The soldiers were all still on their way back from their task of burning such a large area of land, and soon the Princess was captured and thrown in jail. She never apologized for her wrong doings and the people never let her out.
