Hal had noticed that Near had a habit of curling up on the ground, surrounded by toys, and falling asleep soundly for a few hours. She had watched Gevanni find out the hard way that even though he slept soundly, attempting to move him was the surest way to get kick in the gut.

Now, Gevanni, Rester, and Hal left Near to sleep amongst his toys. Rester and Gevanni did not want to leave him there alone, but Hal said she would watch him for the few hours he sleeps.

Watching him sleep made a mothering instinct kick in that she had never knew she had. He slept like an angel, his white hair framing his face and his pale skin contrasting to the dark floor he slept on. She saw a slight shiver run through him, and she ran to grab a blanket.

Hal approached him slowly as to not knock over any of his meticulously place action figures deftly built tarot card buildings. She draped the blanket onto Near's still trembling form. Once the blanket covered him, the shivering stopped, and he curled his hands into the blanket.

Hal smiled and placed a small kiss on Near's forehead. She left him to his peaceful slumber, missing the small smile that had formed on his lips as he slept.
