A/N: For Lisa on her birthday.. Love you, sweetie!
She wasn't the real Elizabeth, he knew that. But, as the world exploded around them and the sound of replicator shots buzzed overhead, nothing but the feel of her body pressed tightly against his and the taste of her sweet lips seemed to matter. Because for a moment, one tiny moment, it was like none of it had ever happened- the accident, the replicators, having to desert her in enemy territory- and it was just the two of them back on Atlantis, getting to experience one another like they'd always longed to but had never been brave enough to chance.
But, as quickly as it began, she broke their kiss and pushed him away, back toward the gate with tears in her eyes, "You have to go, John."
Another hit passed over the trees, closer this time, and the sound of gunfire rose in the distance.
"Tell me we'll see each other again..." he pleaded, "I need to hear you say it."
Heartbroken, he watched helplessly as she surged forward, pressing one last desperate kiss to his mouth, "Goodbye, John."
It was only a whisper. A fleeting touch of fingers sliding over his heart, cool air quickly replacing them as she gave him one last watery smile and ran as fast as she could toward the jumper, ready to cause a diversion so that the rest of them could escape.
She may not have said it, but somewhere deep down John knew that he hadn't seen the last of Elizabeth Weir.
End.
