It Was Not Suppose To Go Like That

I can't believe it,
Lancelot is gone,
He sacrificed his life.
It was so sudden one moment Lancelot was behind me,
But the next moment he was in front of the portal.
I was too busy talking to that old woman,
I didn't notice until it was too late.
I wanted to sacrifice my life,
But Lancelot got there before me and I didn't think to use my magic to throw him back.
I was too shocked to use my magic,
My mind went blank,
He gave me a brief smile and walked forward towards his doom.
It should have been me,
Why did Lancelot sacrifice himself?
He did not have to do it,
I planned from the start to sacrifice myself.
It was not suppose to go like that at all,
It should have been me not Lancelot.
