Hello Gentle Reader,
There's been many incarnations of this intro (now relocated on my blog, mandireiserra dot wordpress dot comm), due to how I've used the clay provided by Fifty Shades of Grey to sculpt something that goes against what some perceive as important in the fandom. This isn't a super-sappy love story; this fandom has plenty of those. But there's not much in the way of the secret lives that the uber-wealthy and well-connected have, and that's what this project has turned into. Can't deny it.
This note serves as a warning that this story isn't your usual fanfic. Christian isn't portrayed in a terribly favorable light. Ana's indecision hinders her more than she realizes. Taylor has a secret agenda.
As you can see in the story's description, there's political intrigue, run-ins with both FBI and CIA, covert operations, and taking on human traffickers. This is an adventure bigger than Christian and Ana: this story is about consequences of when one loses power, be it in the form of wealth, prestige, or influence. I thank EL James for providing the kindling to get this fire going.
I don't want to give away spoilers, but if you're looking for hearts and roses between Christian and Ana, you're looking at the wrong fic. However, if you enjoy works by Stephan King, Dean Koontz, or Thomas Harris, you may very well enjoy this thriller. And if that's not your cup of tea, I wish you well with all the other works in this fandom to chose from.
