The Best
-he wished her all the best-
"And now, I'd like to announce the retirement of Argus Filch, whose devotion to caretaking was a great credit to our school, and welcome our new caretaker, Madame Mary Poppins."
The assembly had been utterly boring so far, and so he had sat slumped back in his chair, trying to resist the urge to kick the chair in front of him. The boredom had eaten away at him slowly, tirelessly, and he had been trying to doze off into sleep when McGonagall had hit him with this.
Devoted to caretaking?
He snorted.
Yeah, right.
More like devoted to trying to pass a law so he could be allowed to whip students.
And now this stuck-up lady was going to fill his place, this so-called Madame Mary Poppins? Who even had that name anyway? That name was so lame, he wanted to laugh. He could imagine it now, this timid-looking and frazzled-hair lady trying to clean up after the masses of students.
She would never do a good job.
But still he wished her all the best.
She bloody needed it.
He caught sight of her a few days later, trying to coax a group of students into help her clean. "It will be fun, I promise!" she said. "We'll make it fun, you'll see!"
And he just laughed, cackling softly down the hall, Mrs Norris padding beside him.
Whipping should still be allowed.
Hope you enjoy it! This was writing for the Twist in Destiny Challenge on HPFFC! And just so you know, I don't own Mary Poppins! Reviews are love. Merry Christmas to all!
