"No, it's fine. I'll just go. Don't worry."
"No no no, let me, it's ok. I want to go."
"Is anyone going with you?"
"Well…not exactly-"
"Then no, I'll get it myself."
It was only a small trip to the cafeteria to buy a lunch but the girl was not going to give up.
"Let me, see, Ashley is going to go with me."
"Oh ok, here." He finally gave in. The tall brown haired boy handed over a five dollar bill to the girl. She had a smile of victory across her face. At once, she was surrounded by a flood of people.
"Are you going to the lunch room?" three of four voices asked excitedly. "Can I have a bag of Doritos?" "Bean burrito please." "Can you get me some of those hot Cheetos?" Soon she had fourteen dollars in her hand and a list of things to buy in the cafeteria's snack line.
"Damn Sakura, sometimes you overdo yourself," said Ashley, a tall lean light blond haired girl.
"Yeah. I just wanted to do a favor for Li though," Sakura replied. She looked down and counted the money in her head as the two walked towards the cafeteria.
"You should have only taken money from him then," Ashley said with a laugh.
"Oh well, I got to make my babies happy."
They laughed as they walked.
"Sakura wait!"
Sakura stopped and turned. Another girl with long black hair ran towards them.
"Going shopping?" she asked with a laugh as she caught a glimpse of the money in Sakura's hand.
"Hello Madison," Sakura greeted with a smile on her face. Sakura and Madison were best friends.
"Huh!" they all laughed together. Soon they had reached the cafeteria and Sakura came out a few minutes later, departing from her two friends with her arms full of goods. She ignored the few people in the school halls that watched as she walked by.
"Sakura!" she heard a friend call as she pushed open the door leading to the school's courtyard, letting the rich sunlight soak down on her.
She walked down towards her friends as several of her other friends reached for their requested food.
"Hey, you didn't get the Doritos," said a blond spiky haired boy.
"Sorry chicko," Sakura replied, handing him back his dollar.
"I asked for a soft taco, not a burrito," Li said.
"Well I'm sorry!" Sakura replied slightly irritated.
"Where is my Citra?" asked a tall dark haired boy.
"Hang on! I'll have to check another pop machine!" she practically yelled.
Li could notice the anger in her voice. "Hey Sakura?"
"Yeah?" Sakura looked at him.
"Thank you."
She smiled and walked towards the schools doors. She was still angry from the ungratefulness in her friends.
"What's up Sakura?"
"Nothing."
Her friend Cindy just walked to her.
"Oh, Sakura. I have a note for you. Some guy dressed in black told me to give it to you. He didn't say what his name was though."
"That's strange…thank you Cindy."
Cindy handed Sakura a small pearly white envelope. Sakura's name was painted in large, curly silver letters on the front. Cindy smiled and walked away. Sakura stared at the letter then slowly began to open it. Inside was a blank sheet of rice paper but it held a small pin. The little pin looked similar to a flower.
"How pretty…but who did it come from?"
Sakura neatly put the pin back in the envelope then placed it in her bag. Quickly, she turned around and walked back to her friends.
"I'm sorry Jason, none of the machines are taking any money," she lied. She gave him back hiss dollar then sat down on the bench.
