Daddy Daddy don't leave
I'll do anything to keep you
Right here with me
can't you see how much I need you

"Dad! Daddy! Come back… come back… mummy doesn't mean it!" Lily lay crumpled on the floor, sobbing. Her daddy was going. All because of a small row they'd had.

Daddy Daddy don't leave
Mommy's saying things she don't mean
She don't know what she's talking about
Somebody hear me out…

She watched as he retreated. There was a small bit of hope in her that he would just turn around and come back. But she knew it wouldn't happen. She watched as he turned on the spot. He was gone. Immediately there was a yell. Running to the living room, she saw that James was pointing to the clock on the wall; her daddy's hand on the clock was pointing to Mortal Peril.

Father listen
Tell him that he's got a home and he don't have to go
Father save him
I would do anything in return

She loved him. She couldn't bare to see him in the hospital bed like that, his motionless form. He had a home. He had a wife, and three loving kids. He had to come back. If it was her they were arguing about, she would do better at everything! At school she'd work harder, at home, she'd do the chores extra hard, just to see her father at home, happy again.

I'll clean my room
Try hard in school
I'll be good
I promise you
Father, Father
I pray to you

But they said he probably wasn't going to survive.

Now she hasn't slept in weeks
She don't want to close her eyes cause she's scared that he'll leave
They tried just about everything
It's getting harder now
For him to breathe

Waiting, waiting. She stayed by his bed all the time. The rest of her family came and went, but she stayed. What shocked her was that her mother hadn't turned up at all. He wasn't going to make it. He wasn't. The shock had made him splinch himself so bad that… and she couldn't bear to think it, he wasn't going to make it. A tear rolled down her cheek.

Daddy Daddy don't leave
I'll do anything to keep you
Right here with me
Can't you see how much I need you

Daddy Daddy don't leave
The doctors are saying things they don't mean
They don't know what they talking about
Somebody hear me out

"He probably won't make it Mrs. Potter".

Her mother had finally bothered to turn up. Tears were rolling down her face when she heard the news that her beloved husband was on his death bed. All thoughts of the fight were gone. She just wanted her husband back in their house. No, their home. And it wasn't home without her daddy.

Father listen
Tell him that he's got a home and he don't have to go
Father save him
I would do anything in return
I'll clean my room
Try hard in school
I'll be good
I promise you
Father, Father
I pray to you

They sat there, waiting, waiting. They could see the energy drain out of his lifeless form. Slowly the family went home for the night, but she stayed. She couldn't leave him. No. She was Daddy's little girl, and she would never leave him. Never.

Please don't let him go

I'm begging you so
There open his eyes
There ain't no more time
To tell him that I love him more
Than anything in the world
Is Daddy's little girl…

He almost didn't make it. Almost.

Father listen
Tell him that he's got a home and he don't have to go
Father save him
I would do anything in return
I'll clean my room
Try hard in school
I'll be good
I promise you
Father, Father

She was Daddy's Little Girl.

He opened his eyes. The first thing he saw wasn't his wife, or his sons, or even the nurse. It was his girl. Daddy's little girl. And at that moment, the biggest smile spread across their faces. All was well, and Daddy could come home.
