Written in the stars

Ziva walked silently into the lab. She always found it fun to sneak up on Abby, a task which was made easier by the goth watching some strange video with headphones on. On the screen Ziva could see some people on a horse riding through a forest.

Holding back a smile at the way Abby's face looked when she was watching the show Ziva reached out a hand and touched the other woman on the shoulder.

Abby jumped a foot in the air and squealed. "Ziva! Don't do that again! I hate it when you do that!"

"I am sorry Abigail, what are you watching?"

"Oh it's nothing. You know... I have no results yet, I am still waiting on the identification of the guys face, I'm running through thousands of different profiles!"

"Abby... that's not why I'm here! Gibbs has been in a horrible mood today, and he keeps asking me to find clues from the victim's records, I was hoping you could help?"

Abby nodded and turned quickly, heading over to the computer. In a matter of minutes she had found several abnormalities within the marine's phone and internet records. The clues were easy to find and Abby noticed that Ziva had probably found them already – she was simply looking to spend time together. Smiling she turned towards Ziva and pointed out all of her discoveries. Ziva nodded, but true to Abby's suspicions she hovered by the door.

"You are always welcome to wait a while Ziva... I have a theory!"

"About the case?"

"Well... about us... I figured out why we are a couple..."

"Because we were at dinner and decided to take things to the next level?"

"No, it was written in the stars! It's fate!" At Ziva's confused face Abby continued, "Have you ever watched the show Xena, the Warrior princess..."

"Umm the one you were watching, yes?"

"Yes... so Xena is a very beautiful woman who was an amazing fighter, but she was also very smart... she was silent most of the time, but had a sense of humour..."

"Abby... where are you going with this... I do not understand what you mean to say?"

"Well, she travelled with her friend, Gabrielle – Or Gabby if you may... Gabby was a very talkative girl, she was like the comic, and Xena always looked out for her whenever she was in trouble... which was quite a lot by the way!"

"Abigail, are you trying to claim that we are together purely because of some TV show made about travelling friends?"

"Oh Ziva – they were so not just friends! I mean there were so many hints that they were more, but they never told their friends or family!"

"You mean like us?"

"Yes – your father would freak out if he was to know about us, and so would all of the people in Xenas time! PLUS the names... Ziva and Xena... they sound the same!"

"but one is Hebrew, and one is a Greek name Abigail!"

"Yes, but Xena... it mean foreigner – I looked it up! AND you are a foreigner!"

"I did notice that Abby..."

"AND Gabby is similar to Abby – Gabrielle and Abbigail... Do you see what I'm getting at?"

"Umm... not really – but I don't think I will no matter how much you say – I would rather think that we had a say in us being together, not that it was written in destiny!"

"Well maybe we did have a say in it? But that doesn't mean we weren't destined!"

"I guess I could not argue."

Both women were very distracted and did not hear the entrance of a third person. Leroy Jethero Gibbs had entered the room a short while ago and had heard some of the conversation. He had known that Abby had recently bought Xena dvd's and he found her logic funny. When he spoke with a simple "I could argue" both girls jumped very high. Worried about what he may or may not have heard they both started talking of their progress in the case at the same time. Clearly Ziva's break was over.
