AN: So this is the first in a series of fics I'm writing. They're probably going to be unrelated but they are all going to be based off of the titles of the songs on Candice Accola's album. This is un-beta'd so any mistakes are my own, feel free to point them out and please enjoy the drabble. Also this is totally a part of my head-canon in which Caroline always calls him Nik.
There's a grand ball, the kind fairy tales are made of, taking place in the room behind her and she is out on the balcony alone. Somehow, despite the fact that she was invited to this party, she once again has no one to dance with. She had shared one measly dance with Nik before her friends had freaked out and dragged her away. Now he was off playing host and she was once again alone.
She's so caught up in her thoughts that she doesn't notice the man sneak up behind her. Doesn't have time to scream before too quickly for the eye to catch she is upstairs and pushed against the door of a room she's never been in before with a very persistent hybrid pressed against her.
She can't stop the giggles that escape as she realizes mister big bad, evil original hybrid just literally swept her off her feet. She feels more than hears when he shushes her. She knows that she needs to be quiet. Intellectually she knows that Stefan and Damon are around and could easily hear them if they tried so she prays that they're both too occupied with Elena to actually pay attention to her.
For the first time in her life she is totally fine with Elena being the centre of attention, a-okay with no one caring enough to notice she's not at the party. She hopes against hope that no one realizes their enigmatic host is also missing. She knows his absence will be more noticeable than her own but at this point she really has to believe that no one will put two and two together because the things he's doing to her neck with his mouth are absolutely incredible and making thought pretty difficult.
He has her pressed against the door of what she can only assume is his study and even through his suit and her kind of froofy dress she can feel every inch of him pressed against her. She can't help the moan that escapes her as he gently bites at her collarbone. She should probably be afraid considering what had happened the last time a hybrid had had her in almost this exact position but she trusts him in a way that she can't trust Tyler. Knows that he'll be able to control himself.
When his name leaves her lips it's on a sigh with just a hint of warning, "Nik." As much as she would enjoy where this may lead, the middle of a ball full of people who don't know what's going between them and who also want to kill him is probably not the best place for her to be getting naked, yet his hands are working incessantly at the ties of her dress.
They hear people approaching and he stops his pursuit of getting her dress off in order to turn his attention back to her neck. She lets out a giggle as his feather light kisses brush against a particularly sensitive spot. She feels him freeze and tilt his head, his hand coming up to cover her mouth and stop whatever question he knows she would have asked as he listens more intently.
It's only a few seconds later that she recognizes the voices of her friends, realizes they might be looking for her and is grateful that she doesn't need to breath, that she has no pulse for Damon to pick up on because if she did then he would definitely be able to hear it.
She lets out a breath she didn't need to be holding as she hears them pass by which turns into a gasp as Nik goes back to work on her body. "Nik stop it, they're going to catch us," she scolds and feels his answering chuckle against her skin.
He lifts his mouth to ear and says in a voice so quiet only she can hear "Hush now love, there are vampires around and voices carry."
