What's Missing?

Sometimes, Arthur wondered if the lonliness he felt was normal. He knew it couldn't possibly be a phase, because it was alway there. For as long as he could remember, it had been as if he had no point in life.

It should have been immpossible, really. After all, he'd tried so hard to feel complete, but it never seemed to work. Because no matter how many friends he made, or relationships he had, or peaceful days he expirienced, it still felt like he was just a tiny black dot on a white page. If that made any sense, he always had been a little weird with sayings.

The blond played with an ink pen, twisting his chair from side to side in boredom. His room was kept neat, but there was always a soda can or two somewhere on the floor, and his desk was full of papers. His back shirt was big on his skinny frame and his matching pajama pants were long enough to hang past his feet. Shifting slightly, he put the end of the pen to his ips as his green eyes lazily skimmed over a text book. He really should have been reading it, if he didn't pass his exam he could definately kiss being a scientist goodbye. But. . .

Something was missing, and he needed to find out what. He wanted to be as happy as his classmates, to have that sparkle in his eyes like he'd enviously see in other's while they smiled, really, truly, smiled. Not like the fake ones he'd been useing since he learned what it even was.

Arthur looked over the book again, as if it would have all the answers he needed, but instead his gaze locked onto the publishing date of the book.

'2050 OWO? Damn, this thing is old.' He thought with amusement. For a moment longer, he stared off in a daydream, but a small 'beep' from an intercom interuppeted his thoughts.

"Attention, we have reached Galexy 29 and we will be landing for our 5th scheduled stop for repairs. Please refrain from walking throughout the ship and stay put. Thank you." The monotone woman's voice said before the intercom gave out another 'beep'.

Almost immediately, Arthur slammed his book shut and ran to his door. It automaticly slid open and Arthur stared longingly out the glass window that framed the permeter of the ship. Stars were almost everywhere, as predicted, but a large globe of blue stood out the most.

'So this is it?' he thought, immpressed. He'd been waiting quite the while for this specific stop.

There wasn't a hint of land anywhere, the only things that proved it to be more than a water planet were the white clouds that hovered around, showing atmostphere.

Most didn't bother trying to understand the forsaken world, but to Arthur, it was...interesting. There were so many legends about it, and now that he was actually going to land on the blue planet, he could finally see for himself, what made Earth so great.

AN: Uhh, yeah, this was my try at a Sci-Fi. I wanted to create that 'Unsuspected End' kinda story, you know, with the twist at the end? Anyway, please tell me what you think. I really just want to know what you think happened and what was the point of it so... This was made sort of spur of the moment after watching the 2001 version of Planet of the Apes...so, I'm a little iffy about it.
