A poem I wrote for a local contest. I tried one from Obi-Wan's POV, but it didn't work as nicely as this one. I have to be in a certain mood to write poetry, and it's been a while since that mood has hit me. So I might do one from another POV, but who knows when that will be!
Don't own anything...
Anakin's Prayer
Master, don't leave me, can't you still see
The good that lies hidden inside of me?
I'm burning in guilt, engulfed in the fire
That caused me to follow the path of desire.
My body can't live; I'm dying inside.
Master, my shame has nowhere to hide.
Flames lick my body with tendrils of heat;
I'm crying in pain, lying here at your feet.
Still love me; still know that I need the light;
I don't want to stay in the dark, in the night.
Please come back, lift me up, take me back, bring me home.
Don't leave me to burn in the sand all alone.
Keep me near to your heart, even though you can't stay;
I don't blame you for choosing the difficult way.
Just know as you turn and walk slowly from me,
Without your forgiveness, I'll never be free.
My anguish is fading in embers of hate,
Your last words of love have come far too late.
You've stumbled away to somewhere I can't see,
Leaving nothing but ashes of what used to be.
