Silent before, but loud in the end, Zane recalled how he let his energy source be copied into the Digiverse system. Zane knew that he wasn't strong enough anymore. He was old and outdated. He nearly died twice in the last week due to the attacks by his up-to-date clones.
Zane, from that point onwards, knew he was getting weaker and was doomed to die. Half of his power source, half of his personality, was within Pixal. The other half, was draining inside. Even if Ninjago got past the Overlord's second attack, he would likely die days later.
Zane was ever so silent after that. He embraced his time here for so long. Perhaps, nobody will last forever. Zane knew that if the pill didn't work, Ninjago may be doomed. Foreign thing, though, he would die anyways! He'd probably give Ninjago a final gift if the pill failed.
"Zane." That was Cole. While Zane had been spacing out, Cole had put his large hand on his slim shoulder. "You in there buddy?" Zane narrowed his eyes and gave a curt nod. He spaced out again. "Sorry," Zane murmured.
Cole shook his head. "Oh no," Cole exclaimed. "You're fine!" Zane sighed. Was he fine? The entire team was hidden in the Overlord's old temple in which he used to fight the First Spinjitzu master. Since the Overlord now had the same powers that this temple was used to defend against, it was the best the ninja had. "You need to get your armor on," Cole told Zane.
Zane nodded. He slipped the Stone Armor over his gi and it magically seemed to adjust to his slim size. It was go time soon and Zane was feeling nervous. He also seemed to feel a strange second emotion as well. How were the ninja supposed to beat a god-powered villain?
It's not that he didn't believe in Wu and Garmadon's batting skills. He was afraid of the highly untested pill. It was meant to shrink the Overlord, or in Borg's words, an instant cure for being overweight. This seemed quite risky, and Zane was actually worried!
Crack! The magic forcefield shattered as another Nindroid tech piece smashed at it. Lloyd was in the lead as Wu, Garmadon, and the rest of the ninja followed. Surprisingly, Borg stayed behind! Zane guessed it wasn't all that surprising for the inventor whose tech attacked and controlled him to the point where he was traumatized and hysterical when freed. Zane silently wished Borg good luck.
The plan was for Zane, Lloyd, and the rest of the ninja to protect Wu and Garmadon, who had the single pill, until they could get into the range of the Overlord's mouth. Zane silently thanked the old armor as the Overlord threw chunks of cars and buildings at the ninja, whose armor bounced them back without pain.
This was Zane's final battle and his hopes grew every moment. Soon, however, Zane fell behind as the rest were nearing the perfect range for deadly baseball.
Zane was left in shock as the next moments flew by. He froze on the building, out of range of the 'golden spiderweb'. The pill nearly made it, which for some odd reason, disappointed Zane. What really shocked Zane, however, was Pythor's huge loyalty to the Overlord. This wasn't normal for the cowardly snake. Maybe he didn't know? Zane was left staring as the 'golden webs' entangled his family.
It wasn't like Zane was going to live either way. "Support me, brothers, for one last time." All of the ninja flipped upside down, except Garmadon, who wasn't in range. Zane jumped over the webs with his brothers' support. Without thinking, Zane barreled into the Overlord's golden armor.
At this point, the rest of the team was hysterical with worry and horror. Zane understood. "Let my friends go!" T
The Overlord continued mocking, but soon he got the message and, ironically, attempted to push Zane off. Zane didn't allow this. He used his ice powers and pulled himself closer. "I-I am a ninja!" Zane really felt the overwhelming deadly power now! "A-A n-ninja never q-quits!"
At the last moment, Pixal stood on top of a skyscraper, quite the distance away. It saddened him to see her so upset. He could just hear her wailing, "Nooooo!" Then, Zane was plunged into a large set of flashbacks, as half of his face piece fell onto the streets. Then everything intensified and Zane felt like he was falling. Then, absolutely everything went black! Zane was dead.
