Chapter 1

"Am I done yet?" I ask my mother and she smiles sweetly.

"Yes my dear girl, but only if you want to be, I can give you a second chance with everything." I think about this.

I could die and join the beautiful white world with my parents and friends or I could try again with Tobias.

"I want another chance." My mother smiles and hugs me. I relish in the feeling and before I know it I'm on a bus.

I look around quickly and see that it is full of Abnegation members, we are on the way to the choosing ceremony.

When we walk up the stairs, I feel my legs getting sore, I don't have the muscle or stamina I have built up at Dauntless, I am the same weak girl I was before I chose Dauntless.

When Marcus calls my name, I glare at him and walk up to the stage. I take the knife with a steady hand and look Marcus in the eyes when I drag the knife against my palm and drop my blood over the Dauntless bowl.

The Dauntless cheer and I smile, it feels welcoming to hear the wonderful chaos that only the Dauntless have.

When we start running this time, I am not surprised. I run with them and feel the burning in my legs that means I am free.

I pull myself into the train car with ease, I needed help the first time but know I do it without thinking.

"Where did a Stiff learn that?" asks a voice behind me and I turn to see Christina. I smile at her.

"I guess I was lucky," I shrug before sitting down next to her.

I see Uriah looking at me in awe, he seems to be putting things together in his mind then he turns to Marlene.

"Hey, I want to bet on the first jumper, you can have my cake for a week if it's a Dauntless-born and I can have yours if it's a transfer but you can't jump or tell Lynn to jump," he says and I look at him stunned. How does he know?

We winks at me and I pale a little.

When we get ready to jump off, I offer my hand to Christina who takes it gratefully. We jump off together and I land on my feet.

Max walks up to the ledge and I zone out, I have heard this before. All I can think about is the fact that I will see Tobias in a couple minutes.

"Who wants to jump first?" Asks Max. I walk up without a moment's hesitation. He steps aside.

I ball up my overshirt and throw it at Peter then I jump.

I let the sensation of falling engulf me and then I hit the net.

I let out a real laugh and see the hands reaching towards me. I grab Tobias's hand and let him help me onto the ground.

Do you remember? I want to ask, but I do not see any recognition in his eyes. I feel crushed, I need him.
