First Snow

I stood on the balcony, clad in nothing more than a thick robe over my nightgown. I ignored the slight nip in the air as I stretched my hand out. The large, fat snowflakes fell lazily from the sky, dusting the balcony and me. I loved it. The first snow of the season.
I stayed out there even though the nip in the air grew stronger and my feet were freezing. Strong arms wrapped around me as my husband's breath tickled my cheek, warming my skin. "What are you doing out here?"
I just smiled. "It's the first snow of the season."
He kissed my cheek then brushed a hand over my hair, no doubt knocking snow off. "And if you freeze to death, you will not be able to enjoy it tomorrow morn." He scooped me up and pulled me close, not complaining of how damp my robe must be against his bare chest. Now that I was out of the snow, I felt colder and couldn't contain a shiver. My husband gave me a fondly exasperated look as he sat me down on the large, fluffy towel that was already spread across the top of the bedcovers. "Stubborn." One word was all he said before he helped me peel off my damp robe then took another fluffy towel and dried my feet and ankles.
I shifted a little when his warm hands skimmed along my calves, giggling when he tickled behind my knee. He quickly caught my feet before I could retreat completely. "We are not done yet."
"No?"
He shook his head. "No." He draped the last dry towel over my hair then captured my hands and lightly rubbed them before he lowered his head and blew on my chilled fingers, pressing a kiss against them for good measure. Tucking my hands between his biceps and his sides, he tilted my chin up, eyes searching for any sign of discomfort. With a gentle briskness, he rubbed my hair with the towel. Not content until my hair was fairly tangled and the towel was soaked, he finally rose to his feet and snatched up my damp robe and most of the used towels. "You will need to change out of that nightgown, Wife. It looks uncomfortable."
It was cold and clammy now and I still blushed under my husband's regard. As he took the victims of the first snowfall into the bathroom, I stole from the bed to snatch his tunic. The dark green tunic still held a bit of his warmth when I exchanged my nightgown for it. Grabbing my brush, I shivered then winced as I dragged it through my damp, tangled hair. My husband was watching me, and our bed had already been cleared of the last towel by the time I managed to brush out the worst of the tangles.
I was still shivering terribly and gladly walked into his embrace when he opened his arms. He once again gathered me against his chest and carried me to our bed. Only this time he made sure we were both under the covers. He traced a finger down my cheek as he held my still-chilled fingers securely against his chest with his other hand. "Stubborn," he whispered. "Now, I shall have to finish warming you." I giggled even as I welcomed his passionate kiss. Much as I loved seeing and feeling the first snow of winter, I loved the warmth and comfort of my husband's embrace far more.
