There is smoke. Fire. There are cities falling and screaming. Ash falls like snow, thunder roars. Plants wither, and die. Humans shriek as their homes are brought to destruction, as their families meet death. A voice calls out to you. A deal is now made.
Salvation... It's all up to you now. Create the world as you see fit.
Now you're walking through the streets of your hometown, Rhoan. Just a few minutes ago, you awoke from a terrible nightmare. It was truly dreadful, worse then any other dream you can ever remember having. In it, there was some book, and four peculiar people that you eventually called 'friends.' And when you did they transformed. You dreamed of deserts and forests and of war. Things you've only heard of in books. And yet... something felt odd about it.
You stopped to visit your friend Fana, and you told her bits a pieces of the dream, she always loved hearing what you had to say. But as you spoke, more pieces of the dream came alive. Fana, calling your name as she's sucked into a swirling vortex. She suddenly asks you what's wrong, awakening you from your momentary nightmare. You can't tell her, not now at least. With a quick farewell, you leave her house.
More pieces of the dream come alive in your minds as you walk. The city in ruins, a man you've never met before shaking his head in disapproval. People from all over the city, friends and neighbors, looking at you with such hate in their eyes. You nearly fall over from just remembering it. But there's still something important, something you can't remember...
Here was good parts of the dream too. You dreamed of being a hero, everyone cheering for you as you won the tournament held every ten years, holding the hand of someone close to you... Oh man, the memories are stirring again.
You find yourself stumbling down Fortune teller's Alley and finally falling down in front of Rex's house. "Tia, what happened?!" You can hear his voice as he opened the door. He's staring at you, you can tell, but you can't look back now because of the memories. You kissed him, Rex, your best friend.
This would normally make you blush crazier then you would've thought possible, if not for the bone chilling scene that came after.
Pouring you a drink, Rex congratulated you again for winning the tournament. You felt so incredibly happy... But there was something wrong. A crackle of electricity and a spark of fire swirled around you, trying to warn you as you toasted to your victory and downed the beverage. And then, everything went cold. You could hear his voice as a sneer. "I guess Heroes trust their boyfriends, huh." He says coldly as he takes the book. You can almost feel the four shouting at you, telling you to run. But you can't. the effects of the drink wore off, but you couldn't move from shock.
You look back up, Rex is looking at you now with confusion. Are you still dreaming now? You stand up and run back down the street. "Tia!" Rex calls after you, but you don't slow down. You run and run until you've left Rhoan altogether.
Finally slowing down in Grana plains, you stop when you reach the Sun Shelf. Panting and trying not to cry, you sit down. The sun is warm on your back, with a large stone pillar from a time no one can remember offering a place to rest.
You lay down in the soft grass, thinking about the dream. But you know, it's just a dream... You're no hero. And you still won't be even after you wake up, you think to yourself as the sun lulls you to sleep.
