AN: This story was inspired by a roleplaying forum. I'd like to take the time to thank every last person on it for their support. I may, or may not be using characters from the board, but if I do, I'll give them the credit at the end of the first chapter they appear in. Do enjoy, please read and review.

S.T.A.R.S. Captain Meena Talyn

Border Military Base, Raccoon City

I'm afraid that this time the Umbrella corporation has truly outdone themselves. We thought it was difficult when their horrid experiments plagued the Arklay Mountains but now the filth of their reign has begun to filter into the city. Already thousands of innocent lives have been taken, all because of one company's cravings for domination. This once great metropolis, must now be shut out from the world. That is, unless the virus is...contained. They think no one has noticed the nukes that are being flown above our heads as we prepare, that or they simply don't care. I have very little time.

Already I miss being part of the military; and at the same time they make me sick. Mostly due to the fact they had listened to Umbrella for so many years. After all, the biological weaponry was made for military uses. It had less to do with numbers and more to do with orders. I'd stopped following orders about a month ago, but that isn't the point. The point is, some were not meant to be followed and some should never have been uttered. Umbrella could easily get charged with treason just for developing what they were instructed to do. I know now as I always have, that they were in it for the money and power; but even if they hadn't been, they would have crashed in the same manor. That is the cruelty of politics.

I can't help but laugh when I overhear some of the higher ranks conversing about the T-virus. Its almost as if they envy it, not even stopping to think of all who have died because of it. They crave power, most people do. I can't even begin to imagine how much people were paying to get access to Raccoon City just for the purpose of maintaining the T-virus experiments. There are a lot of black market businesses that would happily take Umbrella's place. It's nearly every sane man's goal to make sure that doesn't happen.

It's the suspense that's driving me mad now, sitting and waiting. Whether it's to die or to live, I'm not sure; but something has to happen and soon. There is corrupted blood to be spilt and innocents to be saved. I wouldn't imagine them ever letting anyone back outside of the perimeter without quarantine for several months, but it is worth the shot. Too many people have died already and we are the only ones who are doing anything about it. There are several groups entering the city at this point in time, some have been here since the beginning of the end. I should have been one of them.

Unfortunately-due to the mess in Madrid-I am rather late. Probably the last S.T.A.R.S members to enter their own city. It cannot matter, I am no more eager to die then I am to live; but this city needs saving before the previously damaged foundations finally crumble away into the deepest depths of hell. I cannot do it alone however, no matter how much I'd like to. The downside being most of the rookies here have never even seen combat, let alone the monstrosities that lay beyond the Border Base. Perhaps luck will be on our side and we can get some people out of there before it is destroyed by its own creators.

It is time, the pilot will not delay such a dangerous venture. I doubt that he will even return safely, but for lack of emotion, I hope he makes it back just so I have a chance of returning as well. Maybe even with a few survivors in tow. Perhaps not. Either way, the city will fall into ashen slumber and the silence of it shall move the world. If it doesn't...I'm already dead.
