My Sweetest Downfall
Lily's hair looks so soft when she leans over her simmering cauldron.
It feels soft too, as I discover later under the birch tree beside the Great Lake. Her skin glows white in the sunlight. My heart leaps as she laughs at the Giant squid. She brushes my arm with the tips of her fingers, making my skin tingle with pleasure. The scent of her flowery perfume lingers in the air, a beautiful smell that makes me feel that nothing could possibly go wrong in the world. I pull her to me in a kiss, she giggles in surprise. I want this to last forever. Her soft curls fall through my hands like silk as she pulls me to my feet, laughing.
But wait, something's wrong.
Suddenly I'm awake, alone. I look down at my arm, where Lily's soft hand rested moments before. The Dark Mark is in it's place. I brush my long black hair off my face and take a deep breath. Why do my dreams always feel so real? It would be easier I if I stayed asleep forever.
I check to make sure I still have my most cherished of possessions, a vial of flowery scented liquid it took me so long to get right. I put it back in my breast pocket where it stays close to my heart, it's veritaserum if anyone asks.
Maybe it will cleanse me of my sins so I can return to that birch tree
someday.
