A/N: This was experimental, to be truthful. I just watched the ending of Final Fantasy X, and had been aching to write something Tidus x Yuna. But, at the same time, I wasn't sure what to write. That's probably why it's rough around the ending and the middle.

Disclaimer: I don't own FFX, or the characters.

Warning: Vague, non-explicit spoilers for the end of Final Fantasy X.

Maybe, if she clicks the heels of her boots together three times, she'll be in a city full of glittering yellow lights that reflect onto the water. Maybe, she'll meet a boy with a head of golden hair and eyes bluer than the ocean by Besaid. Maybe he'll stop and flash her a smile, and ask her if he knows her from somewhere.

In vain, she puts two fingers in her mouth and whistles, and at the same time, clicks her heels and wishes for impossibilities.

Her whistle falls flat under the sound of crashing waves. If her whistles could somehow be able to reach wherever Tidus is, he would never be able to hear them. Yuna tries to stabilize the catch of her breathing, and smoothed the wrinkles in her skirt down with trembling hands. The very thought of seeing him makes her heartbeat go erratic and sends her head spinning.

"Yuna, it's time."

She can hear the crowd chanting her name: Yuna, Yuna, Yuna. Her heartbeat thumps in tandem with it.

For one last, futile time, she whistled. She didn't smile sadly as she looked up across the ocean, across the blue sky, to where they conjoined at the horizon. Her face remained expressionless, but inside, her thoughts screamed. It took all her self-control not to break down sobbing where she stood.

"I..." Her voice is rough with disuse. "I'll find you, wherever you are. I promise."

I promise.

Those words echoed in her mind, and she suddenly found the courage and hope to smile.
