The Protoss and Terran forces were simply outnumbered by the numerous hive clusters within the area. The Protoss and Terran forces were losing very badly. Tassedar a Protoss hero was about to sacrifice his life and his ship to destroy the dreaded Zerg Overmind.
Tassedar gathered as much Dark Templar energies to the hull of the Ganithlor(a/n: I dunno how 2 spell it). It sped to a crash course to the Overmind it hit and there were giant swirls of Dark Templar energies and then the Overmind detonated with the force of 100,000 Terran Nuclear Missiles.
