Fireworks: An Uchiha New Year

"Big Brother?" Five year old Sasuke Uchiha looked up at Itachi.

"Yes? What is it?"

"What's this?" Sasuke held up a small hand, holding a sparkler. They were just outside their house, coming home from the grocery. Sasuke had found the foreign object on the ground.

"It's a sparkler." Itachi said bluntly. He was still mildly upset that his girlfriend dumped him the previous day.

"What's it do?" And Sasuke just had to be FULL of questions.

"You light it, and sparks come out of the top."

"Really!" Sasuke, now excited began to tug on Itachi's shirt. "Light it Nii-san! Please!"

"Are you sure?"

"Uh-huh!" Sasuke nodded eagerly, thrusting out the sparkler. Itachi sighed, using a mini fire jutsu to light it. All at once the sparkler burst into life.

"WHAAA!" Suddenly, Sasuke started crying and hid behind Itachi. Startled, Itachi put out the sparkler.

"What's wrong?" He asked, abandoning the thoughts of his ex-girlfriend.

"It burned me!" Sasuke whined, holding out his hand. Tears dropped from his innocent onyx eyes.

"Oh, come here." Itachi hugged Sasuke and scooped him up. "Let's go inside and I'll put a band-aid on it for you, alright?"

Sasuke sniffed and nodded.

"There, is that better?" Itachi placed a band-aid on Sasuke's hand. Sasuke sniffed again and nodded.

"Yeah."

"Come on, we're going to the party mother and father are hosting. I'll even let you sit on my shoulders so you can see the fireworks, ok?" They went to the living room, where Sasuke stole a tomato from the bowl of appetizers their mother set out for guests.

"No." Sasuke suddenly said, "I don't want to see the fireworks."

"Well, why not?"

"They could burn me and I could die!" Itachi laughed.

"Fine then, we'll watch from inside, that way you can't get burned from the fireworks."

Sasuke nodded happily.

10…9…8…7…6…5…4…3…2…1 "HAPPY NEW YEAR!"

Fireworks began blasting sending colored sparks all over Konoha.

"Yay!" Sasuke squealed. "Happy New Year Nii-San!"
