Red Rose and Silver Sword
Beverly Crusher step out from the old Picard château in the village of La Barre, France.
She wear a cherry red leather fencing outfit.
It's a wonderful nice summer day.
"Here, take this." says Jean-Luc Picard as he hands Beverly a beautiful silver-plated rapier sword with a pink satin tassel hanging from the pommel. "This is a good blade for a fearless lady."
"Thanks." says Beverly with a cute smile.
Jean-Luc wear a black leather fencing outfit.
"You remember that I'm not good at this, right?" says Beverly.
"Of course." says Jean-Luc.
"Nice." says Beverly.
The fencing outfits that Jean-Luc and Beverly wear are not the style used in modern 20th and 21st century sport fencing. Instead they are what would have been worn by French nobility while they practice real swordmanship during the 1600s and early 1700s.
Jean-Luc grab a gold-plated rapier sword with the traditional Picard family crest on the shell guard.
"You hold the sword like this." says Jean-Luc as he show Beverly the proper way to hold the sword.
"I see." says Beverly as she hold the sword the way Jean-Luc shows her.
"And now the correct stance, like this." says Jean-Luc.
They both get into place and Jean-Luc nod gently as a signal to begin.
Beverly swing her sword way too fast.
"Slower." says Jean-Luc. "A focused attack is more effective than an overly rapid one."
"Okay." says Beverly, as she try again.
Jean-Luc disarm her easy.
Beverly grab her sword from the ground.
"Slow. Like this, okay?" says Jean-Luc, moving his sword in a slow focused way.
"Alright, Jean-Luc." says Beverly.
Beverly move her sword more focused.
"Very good. And now, attack!" says Jean-Luc.
Jean-Luc and Beverly starts to fence.
Jean-Luc smile when he sees that Beverly does surpisingly well for a beginner.
"Not bad, Bev." says Jean-Luc.
"Thanks you, Jean-Luc." says Beverly with a cute smile.
"Don't worry. You're doing really well." says Jean-Luc.
"I'm glad you think so." says Beverly.
"Tu es très belle. Le's continue." says Jean-Luc.
They continue to fence.
Jean-Luc is of course an expert and Beverly is doing really good as well.
"Permettez l'honneur de guider votre main." says Jean-Luc.
Jean-Luc perform a thrust with his sword.
Beverly block the attack.
"Are you trying to kill me?" says Beverly. She laugh because she know that he is not.
"No, of course not. Je suis un gentleman et par conséquent je ne blesse pas les femmes." says Jean-Luc.
"I see." says Beverly.
20 minutes later.
"With a few more lessons you'd be on the way to expert levels." says Jean-Luc.
"Warning! Holodeck auto-shutdown in progress."
The area transform into the holodeck. The holo Jean-Luc disappear.
"Red alert. Doctor Crusher, report to sick bay at once." says Jean-Luc over the inter-com.
"Aye, captain." says Beverly as she tap her combadge.
Beverly exit the holodeck, run into a nearby turbolift and says "Sickbay, please."
