"Mum? Mum?! MUM!!"

"Hrrummphh wha." Allegra groaned.

"Mum, Professor Albus Dumbledore wants a word."

Allegra yawned and stared up at her teenaged daughter. "Hogwarts' Albus Dumbledore?"

Rory, a dark-haired 15-year-old with bright eyes roughly the color of celery, cocked her head and raised her eyebrows at her mother's question. "No, the other Dumbledore."

"Right, right. Coming," Allegra replied, pulling on a pair of gray drawstring pants.

"Professor, how lovely to see you today!" Allegra exclaimed upon entering the den, where the magnificent head of Albus Dumbledore was resting in the large fireplace.

Dumbledore's countenance was grave. "Allegra, I do hate to be the bearer of bad news."

Allegra's hand went to her throat. Severus, she thought. "Oh."

"Oh no my dear woman, nothing like that," Dumbledore said quickly, reading the expression on Allegra's face. "Your brother is well." Dumbledore hastily explained the dire events that had taken place during the third task of the Triwizard Tournament.

"I had no idea Professor. You think there would have been something-"

Dumbledore cut her off. "The Minister refuses to accept that the Dark Lord has indeed returned. There has been nothing in the papers."

"Ahhh."

"Allegra, I fear that Voldemort may choose to avenge Severus' betraying him," Dumbledore explained, getting right to his point. "Severus is safe at Hogwarts but I fear that you and Rory may be in some danger. If Voldemort can't have Severus Snape, he'll try for the next best thing."

"Waste of time," Allegra muttered. "Sev couldn't care less what happens to me and Rory."

Dumbledore sighed. "Allegra, I realize you and your brother haven't always been on the best of terms."

"Ha!"

"Allegra, please. I want you to be safe. I know you can't have anything happen to Rory."

Allegra bit her lip. No, she didn't want anything bad to befall Rory.or herself for that matter. "Right, what do you want me to do?"

"Come to Hogwarts. It is currently the safest place from Voldemort."

"Hogwarts? With Severus?"

"Indeed. Rory will be able to continue schooling, and it seems I have the Defense Against The Dark Arts position to fill, yet again."

"DADA? You.you want me to teach?"

"You were a brilliant DADA student, Allegra. I daresay you would be a fantastic educator."

Allegra sighed. "I am looking for a job."

Dumbledore grinned, his blue eyes twinkling. "Then you're in?"

"Er, I think I'd better discuss this with Rory. I don't know how she'll feel about transferring schools."

"She feels okay about it," Rory called from the kitchen, where she had been listening in. Rory attended Craft Institute For Witches, an all-girl day school.

"Then it's settled. Rory and I will be at Hogwarts this fall."

"I'll need you there by August 25th, to prepare for the school year."

"We'll be there. Er, thank you, Professor.ah, Headmaster."

"Thank you, Ms. Snape."

Rory and Allegra watched as Dumbledore's head vanished from the fireplace. Allegra turned to her daughter. "I guess we should get cracking."
