Hermione, PETRIFIED
The first time I have EVER ripped something out of a library book and something bad happens. Normally I would never think about ripping something out of a book but since Harry is getting ready for the quidditch game Ron would never come to a library unless there was an emergency I had no choice. So I did it, I ripped a book. I grab my hand held mirror from the desk beside me and get ready to leave; Madam Pince gives me a suspicious look over her spectacles. I push my chair in rather hurriedly and walk out the library doors at a fast walk. I make sure to check around the corner before I walk around them to make sure it's not there. That's when I hear a shuffling like slithering scraping across the ground; I walk a bit faster trying to get away from the noise. I use my mirror to look behind me and all I see is one giant yellow eye. The next thing I know I am clattering to the floor petrified. The thing slithers by me and into the girl's lavatory, I want to scream for someone to come and help but I can't. I am stuck.
Awhile later Madam Pince comes down the hall after closing the library for the night, and screams when she sees me. Several Minutes later lots more feet shuffle into the hall crowding around me. Professor Dumbledore and Professor Snape carry me to the infirmary, and Professor McGonagall hurries off to fetch Harry and Ron on Dumbledore's orders.
Professor McGonagall finds Harry Potter to tell him the news…
"The quidditch game has been cancelled, Mr. Potter, please come with me. We have to find Mr. Weasley; it's Ms. Granger, she's been petrified."
I just wait there not moving, and wanting to say so much for more than fifteen minutes. McGonagall comes back then with Ron and Harry, they talk to Dumbledore, Snape, and McGonagall before they even come close to me. McGonagall tells them, "she was found near the library," she picks up my mirror. "This was found with her, do either of you know why?" they both shake their heads. Harry walks closer, and he sees the paper in my hand. He takes it and for that I'm grateful. They walk away and at the door's Ron and Harry look back sadly before they leave.
That's the last I see them before I'm un-petrified, and it is dreadfully boring. Just lying there day after day, as patients are brought in or out (unless their petrified of course). Finally the day after the basilisk is brought down, the medicine to UN-petrify us is ready. It was such a relief to be back to my talking not stiff self I gave Madam Pomfrey and Professor Sprout giant hugs and thanks. Then I go running into the great hall where Ron, Harry, and Hagrid were waiting. That's what happened and why I'm glad to be back.
