"Kurt, I know there have been many ups and downs in our relationship, but I love you, and I know you love me too. So, will you marry me?" Blaine asked as he got down on one knee. He looked hand the ring ready in his hand, having fumbled with it nervously in his sweaty palm on the way to the park from Breadsticks in his pocket. With the ring in one hand and Kurt's hand clutched tenderly in the other, Blaine looked up into Kurt's eyes.
Rather than the joy he'd expected to see in Kurt's glasz orbs however, all Blaine could see was fury.
Kurt ripped his hand away from Blaine's grasp, stepping back, putting more distance between the two. Disbelief painted his face as he stared at Blaine in repudiation. The animosity Kurt displayed made Blaine flinch in rejection.
Kurt didn't even bother saying a word, opting to just walk away. After all, what was the point of speaking when the other party didn't even listen?
Blaine however, had other plans.
He grabbed onto Kurt's arm and jerked him around, forcing him to stay. Kurt winced at the pain Blaine was inflicting; a bruise was definitely going to form.
"Kurt, why are you leaving? Please, don't leave me again," Blaine begged in desperation as he clung onto Kurt's arm like it was his only lifeline.
"Ha ha. Very cute Blaine. Now let me go," Kurt snapped impatiently, trying to free his arm. Rather than escaping his hold however, Kurt's struggles only made Blaine grip on harder.
"I'm not joking! I'm serious Kurt! I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you!" Blaine cried, eyes brimming with tears. Why couldn't Kurt understand?!
"As flattering as that may be, I do not want to spend any bit of my life with you, Blaine. Let. Me. Go." Kurt fumed as he glared at the younger boy.
"No! No, Kurt! I'm not going to let you give up what the two of us have! Can't you see? We're meant to be together. Despite the turbulence we've faced this year, we still ended up spending Christmas and Valentines Day together. This is fate, Kurt! We're soulmates!" Blaine lamented. He pulled Kurt in, crashing their lips together, hoping that Kurt could once again feel the connection the two had.
The only thing Kurt felt however, was utter disgust.
It was like the whole Karofsky incident again, but this time, Kurt wasn't going to let Blaine trample over him. He slapped the other boy viscously, pouring his detest, repulsion and satiated anger into the slap.
"Whatever we had disintegrated the moment you cheated. Christmas? The only reason I acted like we were okay was because of my dad. I hadn't told him of our break-up and I didn't want to disappoint him; not on Christmas. Valentines? Blaine, are you naïve, or naïve? It was a hook-up; nothing but a hook-up. Of all people, shouldn't you have known that it meant nothing?" Kurt snorted in acrimony, eliciting a small whine from Blaine.
"B-but, Kurt-"
Finally managing to shake his arm loose of Blaine's grasps, Kurt smoothed the crumpled fabric of his coat in annoyance.
"Stay away Anderson, or I'll have a restraining order put on you," Kurt said coolly before he strode off, leaving a gob-smacked, wrecked Blaine behind.
As he took a final glimpse at Blaine through the window of his Navigator, Kurt couldn't help but grin in a sort of sick satisfaction, a sort of sadistic pleasure at the sight of Blaine wallowing in sorrow, heartbroken.
Never before had revenge felt so sweet.
