Pony: Alright. My first attempt. I couldn't help but imagine this scene when it was described in Season Two. It's the last time they're happy together.

Poneh: Disclaimer: We do not own Meredith, MrDreamy, Izzie, George or anyone else in this story. We don't even own the plot

Pony: Let me know what you think of it. .

Thursday Morning

Meredith woke up and extracted herself carefully from the man whose arm was draped over her shoulder. She pulled back, looking at him and letting a brief smile turn the corners of her lips. She realized, as she had every time she saw him that he was, without question, the only man she would love. She loved the way his beard was always slightly visible, she loved the way his hair always looked like it needed to be brushed. She gave him one last glance before tiptoeing to the shower.

She stepped out of her oversized t-shirt, tossing it into the overflowing hamper. She jumped as she stepped into the shower, the hot water scalding her skin. She made care to use the lavender conditioner – it didn't work as well as Izzie's rose scented but she loved the way it smelled. She stepped out of the shower, exposure to the cooler air turning her skin a healthy shade of red from the hot water.

Using her elbow, she rubbed a section of the mirror clear and looked at her face up close, smiling. She found that, since meeting Derek, she actually smiled on a regular basis. Everything seemed right in her world. Her wet hair clung to her face so she quickly pulled it back, slipping into the first t-shirt she found, a Dartmouth t-shirt she had owned since who-remembers-when. It had even gotten a hole at the back of her neck which let a small breath of air touch her skin, causing her to shiver.

She smiled at Derek as she left the bathroom and he went in. He smiled back, sending her heart into a flutter. She smiled all the way down the stairs where Izzie and George sat. She walked in, her smile wide and Izzie gave George a knowing look. Izzie said something, something lost on Meredith as she walked in a daze to pour herself a cup of coffee.

She let the smell drift into her senses before raising the cup to her lips. It tasted like all other coffee, but today it was better. Everything was better. The coffee burned her throat as she swallowed but she didn't notice as she opened the newspaper to the entertainment section. It was her dirty habit, reading up on all the gossip in the paper. She was so into reading she was only half aware when Derek came in, looking professional in his button shirt.

He poured himself a cup of coffee which he quickly drank, looking at Meredith's head, her hair tied back in an untidy pony tail. He smiles and leans toward her, letting the smell of some kind of flower waft into his nose. He smiles at her and she smiles back, putting down the newspaper. She puts a hand on his chest and brings her lips to his, touching softly, gently. As they break apart, she smiles again and he kisses her one last time.

"See you later." And he smiles.

Pony: I'm thinking about adding a second chapter where it goes to when Meredith finds out about Addison. Let me know if you'll read that. .
