-The Brothers-
A lone orange haired boy sat on a stump in the woods, staring down at the dried up leaves from the previous falls. He was quite upset over the fact that his twin brother had been accepted into the famous Marcoh Academy for only the most worthy philosophers and magic's. The boy was quite frustrated over this actually. Even though his mother had died a while back from a hereditable disease, his parents both seemed to have always favored his brother. Unfortunately, he didn't quite grasp the concept of this and had deemed it unfair. They were twins for god sakes, what did his brother have that he didn't other than that smartass attitude of his.
A sound of a snapping twig behind the boy woke him from his train of thought, followed by a faint chuckle.
"What's the matter? Baby brother still upset?"
It was none other than the boys' twin brother, Maverick.
"Oh, come on. You knew you would have never stood a chance. After all, I am the better child, right Merrick?"
Merrick sighed, standing up to face his brother. In reality, he despised him; how he degraded everyone, and his sneer remarks. Maverick always played out to be the rude upperclassmen in this foul society.
"Why do you insist on calling me your baby brother?" Merrick asked, crossing his arms. "Besides, we're the same."
"Ah-ah-ah. That's where you're wrong. We may seem the same to the naked eye, but we're very different. Even appearance wise. Lest you forgot, you have green eyes, I have blue. I'm 5 minutes older than you and obviously seemingly more intelligent, unlike you. Why else would Marcoh have accepted me?" Maverick grinned at his little brother.
Merrick couldn't believe how stuck up his twin actually was. Needless to say, the brothers had never paid the other that much attention as to argue over age and being the "same", as Merrick had always put it. Most of the fights started between these two was often over acceptance.
"Oh, face it Merrick, I apparently took after father. You know, his diamond blue eyes, attractive attitude and his superior intelligence." Maverick trailed off, wanted to strike a cord with his brother. He wanted him mad.
"You on the other hand, took after that worthless mother of ours. Her odd sea green eyes, her useless kindness. She probably couldn't even spell her name. Pathetic woman, she was. Exactly as you areā¦" Maverick finished with a slight toothy grin.
Merricks eyes narrow, clenching his jaw. How dare his say that about their mother! That bastard was going to take that back one way or another.
Mavericks eyes seemed to gleam with glory. He had gotten exactly what he had wanted.
