AKA Pokewrite Drabble No. 15. Adjusted and added some details. Prompts used were death, lolita, and ice cream (and the result was probably not was Zoey was expecting at all XD)
Disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon, though I try to collect as many Pokemon plushies as possible...
Appropriately Ridiculous
"For me insanity is super-sanity. The normal is psychotic. Normal means lack of imagination, lack of creativity." - Jean Dubuffet
Cheren had no idea what he was doing here.
Well, he had some idea. White and Bianca had herded him here with their manic enthusiasm, after having only ice cream for breakfast. They had been talking about this for weeks, months even. And Cheren, ever the practical one, nonetheless didn't have the heart to tell him such things didn't really interest him. He wasn't an anime nut like those two were. White was even cosplaying as some kicking girl from that Kenichi series. Kisara or something.
But hearing (endlessly) about an anime convention, and actually being at an anime convention, were entirely separate things.
Were those people over there dressed like Naruto ninjas, complete with metal headbands? Was that person really pretending to be a zombie, moaning braaaaaiiiins as the supposed puppet of death staggered forward? (Five more soon followed the example, only to scatter when a Soul Reaper person began chasing after them) Were those girls...no wait, guys dressed in gothic lolita? Was that guy seriously running around with a huge paper-mache Rayquaza head, screeching like the green dragon? Seriously?
And then there was the stuff. Arceus there was so much stuff. Artist Alley stuff, Art Show stuff, Dealer Room stuff. Anime boxsets, manga, plushies, keychains, binders, and on and on. And the girls ate it up, quickly weighing themselves down with bags (though Cheren helped with some of it). Bianca soon sported Buneary ears. In fact, anyone who came in looking normal were quickly sprouting ears, tails, tailed hats, eared hats, goggles, straw hats, Reaper masks, V masks, Pokemon masks, and things Cheren couldn't even put a name to.
And, to his horror, he found he wasn't immune to the lunacy. Soon, along with many manga he bought, he found himself wearing a top hat with gears glued to it, a wooden sword, and a fake monocle. And somehow, as the girls dragged him into a steam-punk booth to help complete his new look, it felt right.
Two hours, and already he was becoming one of the otaku. And there was going to be three days of this!
Oh Arceus help me...

Ah, anime conventions. You cannot explain them. You just have to go there to truly understand XD. Hope you guys enjoyed it!
